Berlin Lesbian Bars & Nightlife – Our Taste for Life

Berlin Lesbian Bars & Nightlife - Our Taste for Life

Looking for the best Berlin lesbian bars & nightlife? You’re in the right place! In this guide, I share a list of the top queer and lesbian bars, clubs, parties, and events throughout the city. Lesbian bars are a bit like unicorns. We know they exist, but it’s almost impossible to find them.

Thankfully, Berlin is an exception. A bit like Lesbian London, the progressive city has been a queer hotspot since the early 1900s and continues to thrive. Of course, the lesbian scene is tame in comparison to what’s on offer for the boys. That said, there’s still plenty of fun to be had for lesbians in Berlin. So, let’s get to it and share our top lesbian bars, clubs, and parties in Berlin.

Berlin Lesbian Bars – Himmelreich Cafe

Located on the ever-popular Simon-Dach-Straße, Himmelreich Cafe is one of few lesbian bars in the party district of Friedrichshain. The bar has an open-door policy, and anybody is welcome regardless of their $exuality. However, it’s proclaimed as a ‘Cafe by day and gay lady oasis by night’. Certain nights are LGBTQ+ specific, such as Women’s Lounge on Tuesdays, which caters to a lesbian and FLINTA crowd.

The Globetrotter Guys Do Gay Belfast

Gay Belfast, Ireland Travel Guide: What a beautiful city Belfast is! A city that we found very welcoming as gay travellers, it was reassuring to see many other LGBTQ+ couples exploring the city hand in hand.

Full of incredible restaurants, traditional pubs, bars, and thrilling history, we could easily have spent longer exploring Northern Irelands capital city.

In terms of gay Belfast, it has a lot to offer including some of Irelands most popular gay bars and clubs (read on to find out about all the best bars and clubs),

But in a whirlwind 48 hours with Tourism Ireland – here are a few of the exciting things we got up to and would highly recommend.

Curacao Gay Bars: The Best & Only Gay Bar  – The Globetrotter Guys

Curacao Gay Bars - Gaze

Looking for Curacao Gay Bars

Is there a gay bar in Curaçao? Yes! There is just one at the moment.

However you will be pleased to know that Curaçao is one of the most popular Caribbean islands for gay travellers and whilst you won’t find a huge selection of gay bars in Curaçao (or clubs either) you are sure to have a great time wherever you go for the evening.

Note a lot of other sites mention other places to go, but at the time of writing this blog this is the only official one on the island. If you’re looking for Curacao gay bars, this is it.

The benefit of there being just one bar is that this is where the majority of LGBTQ locals and tourists alike will go if they are looking for a gay night out at the weekend – this is an island and not a big city after all!

Nomadic Boys: Finding Mongolia’s Only Gay Bar

Hanzo - Mongolia's only gay bar - Nomadic Boys

For as long as I’ve known my crazy Stefan he’s always been harping on about Mongolia.

He spends hours reading historical fiction about the Genghis Khan dynasty or watching documentaries about Kublai Khan. Although it was the Netflix Marco Polo series (starring the very handsome Italian actor Lorenzo Richelmy) that created Stefan’s ultimate wanderlust for the land of the Mongols and therefore inspired our Mongolia trip.

We visited Mongolia during our big Asia trip in July when the famous Naadam Festival was taking place. This is the Mongolian Olympics, but instead of taking place every 4 years, it happens in July. It’s the country’s biggest event with a dramatic, colorful opening ceremony before the focus turns to the three traditional games featured in the competition: horse riding, wrestling, and archery.

Hanzo – Mongolia’s Only Gay Bar

We must have spent around 25 minutes walking up and down those ugly Soviet blocks looking for Hanzo, Mongolia’s only gay bar. There was no signage, nothing recognizable anywhere to help us locate it.

Finding the Dubrovnik Gay Bars – Globetrotter Guys

Finding Dubrovnik Gay Bars - Globetrotter Guys

Where are the Dubrovnic Gay Bars?

As of 2022, Dubrovnik finally has its very first official gay bar called MILK. Croatia as a whole is not known for being particularly queer friendly, however in tourists hotspots like Dubrovnik you can feel safe and comfortable so it was about time they opened the some Dubrovnik gay bars.

MILK is the first and only official gay bar in Dubrovnik and during our annual sailing trip to Croatia (click to join us next year) we took our entire sailing group to check out this bar.

The bar itself is within the old town, and like many bars a restuarants is a relatively small space with a lot of character. As you can see, entire the ceiling is covered with plants, the walls lined with mirrors and the bar stocked with everything you can imagine from floor to ceiling. Early on in the evening you can expect to chill with some cocktails and then as the evening goes on the bar gets packed with people dancing.

Pattaya’s Supertown – Thailand’s New Gay Destination

Supertown - Gay Supertown Blog

Thailand is a wonderous country, it is a mix of a ancient culture and modern cities, warm beautiful beaches and cool misty mountains. Thai people are very welcoming by nature and will endeavor to make you feel most welcome!

Most major cities have a significant gay population of both Asian and Westerner and the public by & large is accepting of the lifestyle. As a vacation spot, it is hard to beat. For gay tourists it can be a wonderful destination to explore. Unlike many places, Thailand caters to gay tourists of all ages.

Pattaya / Jomtien Beach is located on the Eastern Seaboard of the Gulf Of Thailand approximately two hours south of Bangkok, the country’s Capitol. The official population stands about 100,000 but that number does not include non Thai Ex-Pats and many Thais who work here but call other provinces home.

Thailand’s Supertown Gay Complex

Jomtien Complex  south of town by about 4 km which for years seemed a “hit or miss after thought” with only a few bars and a lot of empty shophouses. A few years ago, Jomtien Complex was renamed Supertown Jomtien Walking Street to avoid confusion with a similarly named Condo.  Many locals still refer to by its former name.

Gay Reykjavik – The Nomadic Boys

Gay Reykjavik - The Nomadic Boys

Planning a Trip to Gay Reykjavik

Have you ever noticed how phallic the world’s most famous landmarks are? The Eiffel Tower? Empire State Building? The Shard? Well, gay Reykjavik has taken the most literal approach of them all and opened up a museum dedicated to male organs. And if that doesn’t scream the perfect gay destination, we don’t know what will…

And like any good gay guy, Iceland is versatile.

Who’d have thought that a country with the spellbinding Northern Lights would have also birthed one of the most unorthodox singers of our time – Björk. Or that a land full of mountainous glaciers and astonishing waterfalls would feature the aforementioned phallogical museum.

Or that a culture dedicated to thermal baths and deep meditative rituals, would lend itself as a setting for the bonkers Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga movie on Netflix (you’d be lying if you said Ya Ya Ding Dong isn’t a bop).

The city itself is a wondrous blend of old meets new, with its ancient buildings set against the dramatic natural landscape, with trendy bars, a vibrant (albeit small) queer scene, and relaxing spas for you to unwind.

Costa Rica: San Jose Gay Bars – Globetrotter Guys

Costa Rica: San Jose Gay Bars - Globetrotter Guys

Like any country, if there is going to be a gay scene it is going to be the biggest in the capital city. If you are flying to Costa Rica, you are likely to be flying in to San Jose.

San Jose Gay Bars

Most people move straight on, but we think it is worth spending the weekend here first, there are a lot of gay bars in the capital city to check out first. It’s relatively modern by Latin America standards and is said to be one of the safest and least violent cities in the region. We felt perfectly safe while we were here and at night, used Uber to be extra safe.

We had one of the craziest nights out yet in San Jose. A lot of bars have the concept that you pay your entry fee and then its an open bar (which can be somewhat dangerous if like us your are a lightweight!).

Here is our list of San Jose gay bars and clubs.
