La Dauphine – New Orleans Gay B&B

La Dauphine – New Orleans Gay B&B

FAUBOURG MARIGNY NEW ORLEANS GAY B&B – FOUR BLOCKS FROM THE FRENCH QUARTER

People often compare New Orleans to San Francisco, Savannah, Charleston, Paris, or Marseilles. It’s not like that at all. The biggest difference? The streets are full of live music year round. You’ve never seen so much “street theater.”

At our New Orleans gay B&B, our most cherished guests come for the wonderful food, music, architecture, history, artists, and writers of the Big Easy, and our French-Caribbean ambiance.

We live in the old French area, as my Creole ancestors did, coming from France and Spain in 1the 1700’s. My mother and father grew up speaking French just a few houses away from us. Our district, Faubourg Marigny, is a quieter version of the adjacent French Quarter – you can actually sleep at night here. It’s a safe, artist/gay residential area with about seventy bed and breakfasts. The city attracts one million visitors each month, so accommodations here book up quickly.

Within a short walk of our New Orleans gay B&B, you’ll enjoy great local restaurants:

* Marigny Brasserie
* Belle Forche’
* Cafe Negril
* Feelings
* Santa Fe
* Marisol
* La Peniche
* Mona’s
* Wasabi
* Adolfo’s
* Santa Fe

And bars:

* Spotted Cat
* Cafe Brasil
* d.b.a.
* Checkpoint Charlie’s
* Phoenix

Not to mention an overabundance of art galleries and antique shops. There’s a Cuban grocery store right across the street, and Jackson Square is just a twenty-minute stroll through the adjacent French Quarter.

Maitland Manor Bed & Breakfast – Olympic Peninsula Gay Friendly B&B

Maitland Manor Bed & Breakfast - Olympic Peninsula Gay Friendly B&B

Luxurious Olympic Peninsula Gay Friendly B&B

Google top rated bed and breakfast hotels in Port Angeles and Maitland Manor shows up at the top of the list. Opened in 2019 by Sydney and Alex, this Olympic Peninsula gay friendly B&B has quickly gained a 5-star reputation for upscale luxury, beds that will have you hitting snooze a few times, and especially their complimentary 3-course gourmet breakfast and house made baked goods. This place is a great spot for outdoor enthusiasts who also want to indulge their inner foodie. Journalist and travel reporter Katie Boer said, “breakfast was pure art!”

Located in a completely updated 1926 Tudor style home, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer called the inn “packed with character” for its juxtaposition of preserved historic architectural features with contemporary, clean lines and décor throughout. No doilies or fussy wallpaper in the place!

In fact, guest reviews often comment on the comfort and relaxed atmosphere of the suites, common areas, and gardens of the inn, while still feeling pampered and special. Some have called the experience “upscale cozy,” surrounded by luxury, but comfortable enough to kick off your shoes, put your feet up on the sofa, and enjoy the warmth of the fireplace and a great book.

But our Olympic Peninsula gay friendly B&B’s in-town location may be one of the best reasons to stay here. Located just twelve blocks from the waterfront in the city of Port Angeles, you’ll be close to everything, with the added bonus of views of the Salish Sea and Hurricane Ridge.

Florida Keys Kayaking Adventure – 2TravelDads

Florida Keys Kayaking - The Globetrotter Guys

Florida Keys Kayaking was one of our favorite parts of our road trip from Miami to Key West (mmm, key lime pie!). The best places to kayak in Southern Florida are spread out between the many islands, and they aren’t all where you’d expect. This is our guide to kayaking with kids in the Florida Keys, and any of these spots are great as an adult too.

As we go through the many kayaking spots in the Keys, you’ll see that some of the launch sites are in state parks and others are public access via beaches or boat ramps. Wherever you’re putting in, and whether it’s a kayak, canoe, or standup paddleboard, always be aware of wildlife, underwater obstacles, and other boats. Remember, safety first in all things if you want to have an amazing Caribbean vacation!

Best Places for Florida Keys Kayaking

Kayaking through the backcountry waters of the Keys, and you’ll see one of the world’s most diverse marine life ecosystems. The quiet, shallow backwater region of flats and mangrove islands has inspired many naturalists and outdoor enthusiasts to combine environmental tourism with the sport of sea kayaking. The opportunity to explore such serene, untouched areas is very special.

Lesbian Chiang Mai, Thailand – Our Taste for Life

Lesbian Chiang Mai, Thailand - Our Taste for Life

Chiang Mai is one of the most liveable cities in Asia, but what is it like for us in lesbian Chiang Mai? We travelled to Chiang Mai to find out and found it to be one of the most gay-friendly cities in Thailand. With an abundant selection of gay and gay-friendly bars, nightclubs, hotels, cafes, and activities, gay Chiang Mai has a lot to offer LGBTQ+ travellers.

Don’t get me wrong, when you compare to gay Bangkok or Phuket, Chiang Mai’s gay scene is relatively tame. However, there is still plenty of fun to be had both during the day and at night. The gay scene aside, Chiang Mai is a cultural city, popular amongst backpackers, digital nomads and LGBTQ+ travellers alike.

What we love most about Chiang Mai is that it has all the perks of being in a city, such as great food, temples, nightlife, markets, cafes, and shops. But in as little as an hour, you can immerse yourself in nature. Escape into the jungle for hiking adventures and elephant sanctuaries, or go ziplining or cliff jumping at a nearby canyon.

It’s impossible not to fall in love with Chiang Mai. And this guide aims to provide you with all the information you need to have an unforgettable time. I’ve listed all of the hottest gay bars and nightclubs; gay-friendly hotels and hostels; the best LGBT+ centred events; as well as all the top things to see and do.

Is Lesbian Chiang Mai Safe for LGBT+ Travellers?

In short, absolutely yes! Thailand, in general, is one of the most gay-friendly countries we’ve ever visited. Here’s a statement from the Go Thai Be Free website:

“In Thailand, we believe that diversity is amazing. As the most LGBTQ+ welcoming country in Asia, we’re proud that the lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans community – and all people – no matter how they identify; and whom they love; feel free when travelling in Thailand on vacation or holiday.”
