Gay Friendly Philippines – Nomadic Boys

Gay Friendly Philippines - Nomadic Boys

We absolutely fell in love with the gay friendly Philippines. It was the big surprise from our big trip around Asia. Most travellers backpacking around Asia also told us the same thing – they came to the Philippines with low expectations but ended up leaving completely besotted with the place!

The Philippines has 7,641 islands of which only 2,000 are inhabited. That’s a shed load of tropical beaches to discover. The country also straddles the Coral Triangle, which makes it a paradise for underwater adventurers – we had some of the best snorkelling and scuba diving experiences here, particularly in the waters around Palawan.

And, it’s super gay friendly! We rate the Philippines as one of the most gay friendly countries in Asia. Whilst it has a long way to go with its LGBTQ laws (as does almost every country in Asia), this was one of the rare countries in Asia where we felt super welcome as a gay couple.

We put this down to the Filipinos. They are extremely friendly, warm and fun-loving people – the “Filipino hospitality” is a thing which they highly value.

We were fortunate to make many LGBTQ Filipino friends during our travels, both in the gay friendly Philippines and elsewhere. We reached out to them to give us their opinion on why they think the Philippines is so gay friendly and awesome! We specifically asked each of them to answer these 2 questions and have printed their answers below.

Olallieberry Inn B&B - Gay Friendly Bed & Breakfast in Cambria, California

OLALLIEBERRY INN B&B:
BEST B&B BREAKFAST IN USA

“This 1873 Greek Revival house is my favorite B&B in the area. The grounds are perfectly manicured but bloom whimsically. In the afternoon the aroma of baked brie and homemade bread (served during wine hour) waft through the main house and the staff does everything imaginable to make your stay special. The delicious full breakfast – accompanied by Olallieberry jam, of course – is gourmet all the way.” – FROMMER’S

Olallieberry Inn … a romantic bed and breakfast located in the seaside village of Cambria on California’s central coast. This 1865 built home is one of the oldest buildings in town and sets on the banks of the Santa Rosa Creek.

A 130 year old Redwood tree greets guests from the inn’s front entry. Lush and colorful gardens can be enjoyed from the back deck. Olallieberry Inn offers a peaceful, serene and private oasis, yet you’re just a short walk to the finest restaurants, shops and galleries and is less than 10 miles from Hearst Castle.

Shields of red and white can be seen on the round stained glass windows as one passes through the gates of the Bacon Mansion Bed and Breakfast. Built in 1909 by Cecil Bacon on Seattle’s Capitol Hill, this classical Edwardian Style Tudor shows not only the trademark family crest but a fine preservation of original woods, 3000 crystal chandelier, marble fireplaces and a treasured library.

Located in the Historical Harvard-Belmont Landmark District, most of the original floor plan and exterior has been retained. In 1984 a great fire burned 60% of the interior and necessitated major renovation. Bacon Mansion’s massive walls, however, spared the glass and wood pocket doors found in the “day rooms.”
