Oregon Gay Travel Bucket List – 2TravelDads

Oregon Gay Travel Bucket List - 2TravelDads

We love Oregon and have spent more time there than any other state that we haven’t lived in. The adventures here never end with countless fun things to do. Must see places and beautiful places to stay are everywhere. This is our Oregon gay travel bucket list, many of which can be done on a weekend or road trip.

So many of the unique places are within an hour or two of a major city (Portland, Eugene, Bend…). Sightseeing here is a breeze in spring and fall, with most people traveling in the peak of summer, so plan a trip for the changing seasons and enjoy the quiet beauty!

Must See Oregon Gay Travel Spots Around Portland

Most people will visit the state either on a work trip to Portland or on a road trip, maybe driving up doing a coast road trip. However you arrive, you’ll find plenty of adventures in the northern part of the state. Sightseeing in Portland and beyond is very easy, with many unique places and things to do. Our bucket list begins in Portland and heads east along the Columbia Gorge and Willamette Valley. There are lots of places to drive for the day or a weekend trip out of Portland.

Hiking the Chikanishing Trail in Killarney, Ontario – Keep Calm and Wander

Hiking the Chikanishing Trail in Killarney, Ontario - Keep Calm and Wander

The Chikanishing Trail in Killarney (Ontario) is a beautiful hiking trail along the coast which runs along the waters of the Georgian Bay. Although the bay was teasing us for a dip, we decided to just sit down and chill on the comfy red rocks. We watched the sunset here while the calming crashing of the waves was music to our ears! So serene and magical!

The Chikanishing Trail

The trail was pretty easy to moderate. However, it requires agility as there are terrains where you have to hop from one rock to another. It could be a bit challenging for those with agility problems, but it won’t be uncomfortable, I guess While in most parks,, the blue markers are attached to trees, the ones you’ll find here are drawn into the rocks A few are faded, so you have to find them to not get lost, or else you might find yourself scrambling on all fours.

This is a 3.5-kilometer trail that you can finish in under 40 minutes one way. It is lovely to watch the sunset from here, but as soon as the sun goes down, you have to g back. This is a loop trail so watch out for the blue markers to guide you back to the parking lot.

The Best of Hiking Palm Springs – 2TravelDads

The Best of Hiking Palm Springs - 2TravelDads

We love to find places that everybody talks about but nobody knows the cool stuff you can do there. One such place is Palm Springs, California. I mean, everybody goes there for a nice weekend or a relaxing vacation, but besides golf, gay bars and swimming pools, what is there? The ACTUAL Palm Springs!! Agua Caliente Indian Canyons is the reason for the name, and hiking Palm Springs is awesome!

Have you been to the area and done the oasis hikes at Indian Canyons or out at the Coachella Preserve and know what we’re talking about? Been thinking about a visit maybe but didn’t know what to do beyond golf and shopping? Well, let us give you some motivation to make a weekend trip out of it or at least get you away from the pool for a few hours.

Hiking Palm Springs – Getting There

A two hour drive from Los Angeles, Orange County or San Diego, PS lies to the east of the coastal cities. You’ll have to pass through Riverside or Ontario, so plan for city traffic on your drive… or you can just take a short flight from any of the Southern California airports. Actually, most West Coast airports have direct flights into Palm Springs (search for flight tickets with Omio).

Visiting Gay Jordan – The Nomadic Boys

Visiting Gay Jordan - The Nomadic Boys

You’ll never run out of things to do whilst visiting gay Jordan – it’s a gorgeous country. Your visit may come to an end, but you’ll never be JorDone!

We loved the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan! It’s such a rewarding place to visit offering a rich mix of experiences – whiz between the sand dunes of Wadi Rum, float along the surface of the Dead Sea, relish in all things pink by visiting Petra, aka The Pink City, and swim through the Red Sea feeling your Little Mermaid fantasy.

We’d go back to gay Jordan in a heartbeat!

The only downside is that this is an Arab country in the Middle East – a place sadly renowned for its awful LGBTQ rights. Thankfully, it

s one of the more gay friendly Arab countries but still a place you need to be careful of as an LGBTQ traveler. We set out for you all our safety tips along with the rest of our firsthand experiences from our travels in here as a gay couple.

Take the Georgia Coast Road Trip – 2TravelDads

Take the Georgia Coast Road Trip - 2TravelDads

Have you ever done a Georgia Coast road trip? No?! Well now’s your chance and you will love it! A road trip along the Georgia shore is rather surprising, as it’s not a big long beach like doing a California seaside trip or a Florida Gulf Coast trip. But it’s awesome!

A lot of people ask us about living in the South and how to get the best of both beaches and history. Making the drive from FL to GA is the perfect way to get the full experience. Departing by car from Atlanta is an option too, but that’s a bit more complicated. Here’s the scoop though for having an incredible coastal Georgia road trip including Tybee Island, Savannah and the Golden Isles.

Getting to the Georgia Coast Road Trip Start

If you’re not familiar with the map of the East Coast, you may think that Atlanta is super close to the beach, but it’s not. Savannah actually isn’t even a beachfront city, but it’s pretty close. So, how do you get to the beaches? While heading to the coast is one of the best drives from Atlanta, it’s not the best way to get to Savannah.

Best Things to Do at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge – 2TravelDads

Best Things to Do at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge - 2TravelDads

Visiting Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

I have always loved Star Wars so getting to visit Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disney World and in Disneyland has been awesome. Visiting Galaxy’s Edge with kids is also incredible. These are our favorite things to do and see in “Star Wars Land” in Hollywood Studios and Disneyland Park. And if you want, you can even stay in Star Wars themed accommodations to add to the overall experience.

Even if you’re not a huge fan, visiting Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is awesome. Every turn sparks nostalgia, and with the ever-expanding collection of Star Wars feature films and series that Disney has been making, the galaxy just keeps expanding and the stories are getting better and better! Keep reading to see all the things to do and what you’ll fall in love with at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. And don’t forget to check out all the hidden gems of Galaxy’s Edge too!

There are two places where you can find Batuu, aka Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. At Walt Disney World “Star Wars land” is found in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, at the edge of Toy Story Land and near the Grand Ave / Muppets area. In Disneyland, it’s located just beyond Frontierland and Critter Country.

Visiting Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is included with your park ticket, so as long as you have entrance to Hollywood Studios or Disneyland Park, you’ve got all you need to access Galaxy’s Edge. Many people think the Star Wars lands are their own parks, but they are not.
