If you’ve not hear of Oregon Caves National Monument before, that’s not surprising. There are other, more famous caverns in the National Parks system and even outside of it, such as Lewis and Clark Caverns, but these Caves are really something special. From the amazing Chateau to the really well put together Visitors Center, a visit to Oregon Caves National Monument is a great adventure for family travel or solo road trip around the state.

Although this attraction is relatively unknown, it is really an amazing gem of a park. If for nothing else, go experience the calm of the mossy forest, quiet streams, waterfalls and beautiful rustic architecture of the Chateau and Visitors Center. It’s one of the most beautiful, albeit difficult to get to, places in the Beaver State and it needs to be on your bucket list!

Where is Oregon Caves National Monument

Like we said in our article about the Chateau, getting to Oregon Caves National Monument can be done two ways: coming from the coast or from Grants Pass and the Interstate. Traveling from I-5 and heading west is a short half hour to Cave Junction and then the winding drive through the hills. Wherever you’re coming from, the drive and time you’ll spend there is well worth it.

On 7+ private wooded acres in Pisgah National Forest between the towns of Old Fort and Black Mountain, NC, and 25 minutes east of Asheville, the Inn on Mill Creek is a licensed five-room Bed & Breakfast where guests come to relax and connect with nature. 

At our Pisgah National Forest gay friendly B&B, guests can get some “nature therapy” by enjoying different garden spaces, outdoor sculptures, a boardwalk through a half-acre wetland area, a deck adjacent to the small pond on the property, and a walking labyrinth. Across the road is the Inn’s half-century-old apple orchard currently undergoing rehabilitation. The Inn is also one of a handful of private properties on the North Carolina Birding Trail’s Mountains Region. Our neighbors have names like Chickadee, Tufted Titmouse, Pileated Woodpecker and Swainson’s Warbler, and our night is lit by stars, not neon. Plenty of outdoor and indoor seating allows for admiring nature in four distinct seasons. 

The Inn’s five large guest rooms are decorated and named with inspiration from Pisgah National Forest surrounding the Inn. Each have their own private bath.

“Guys, how many days should I stay in Phnom Penh?” …is a question we get asked a lot by our readers. And the answer is, it really depends on how much time you have on your hands to explore Cambodia. We came here expecting to stay for a few days but ended up staying for a few weeks!

Phnom Penh is the capital city and main transport hub of Cambodia. It’s famous for the Killing Fields – a harrowing memorial dedicated to the victims of the Khmer Rouge regime. Most come to visit this then quickly move on to Siem Reap to visit Angkor Wat. For us, we extended our trip here because we quickly fell in love with the bustling Cambodian capital. It’s a very cool, modern, city, similar to Bangkok but on a much smaller scale.

At the end of the day, it depends on how long you’ve got for your Cambodia trip. We think you could easily spend a week (or two!) in gay Phnom Penh and never be bored. However, for those pushed for time, we think two days is more than enough to get a flavor of the city and learn about the country’s sad history.

When is the best time to visit Gay Phnom Penh?

We think Phnom Penh can be visited at any time of year. There is no “ideal” time to go or months to avoid.

In terms of weather, the dry season takes place between November to April. At this time of year, the sky is usually clear blue. However, this is also the peak tourist season, so hotels are at full price, and tourist attractions are heaving with package tourists.

Halifax, Nova Scotia is such a beautiful city! Even though we loved exploring the Bay of Fundy and the Nova Scotia Lighthouse Route, our time enjoying gay Halifax was wonderful. There are so many things to do in town, particularly if you love history. A great city to explore on foot, this is our guide to visiting this seaside city with kids.

Give the podcast a listen and follow along with our article below. You’ll find that many of the best things to do in town are very close by, and if the weather is nice you won’t even need a car. Once you start exploring beyond downtown, you will need your own vehicle, especially for going out to the picturesque eastern shore of Halifax Harbour.

Being a historic city with a solid urban core, there are lost of hotels directly in Downtown. You’ll be able to find most of your mainstream travel brands as well as some boutique options. We stayed in the area of Dartmouth for our time there. Dartmouth is just across the Harbour, accessible by the ferry or bridge. Dartmouth is quiet and beautiful, and very near the airport and routes out of the city, so it’s an easy home base.

“Be super careful in Manila boys…” was the blunt warning from our Filipino friends in London before we headed over, “…it’s crowded, polluted, too much traffic and lots of thieves everywhere!”

But in all honesty, Manila is no different to any other big city we’ve been in.

Our first steps on the streets of Malate were tentative – taking our friends’ words to heart, we ensured to leave all valuables in our hotel, avoided unlit streets, and stuck to taxis to get us around. But the paranoia that we’d built up was quickly broken down. Sticking to basic common sense, it’s absolutely fine in Manila.

We ended up really enjoying the Filipino capital. It has a pretty exciting gay scene with a super friendly LGBTQ community that loves connecting with foreigners. Filipinos generally are the most affable and hospitable people we’ve ever met, which makes it so easy to quickly make local friends here. This was our favorite thing about Manila!

As the hub into the Philippines, the city makes for a pretty sweet base to start exploring the rest of this phenomenal country.
