Inn on Mill Creek - Pisgah National Forest Gay Friendly B&B / Gay Friendly Pisgah National Forest B&B

Gay Friendly Pisgah National Forest B&B

On 7+ private wooded acres in Pisgah National Forest between the towns of Old Fort and Black Mountain, NC, and 25 minutes east of Asheville, the Inn on Mill Creek is a licensed five-room Bed & Breakfast where guests come to relax and connect with nature.

At our gay friendly Pisgah National Forest B&B, guests can get some “nature therapy” by enjoying different garden spaces, outdoor sculptures, a boardwalk through a half-acre wetland area, a deck adjacent to the small pond on the property, and a walking labyrinth. Across the road is the Inn’s half-century-old apple orchard currently undergoing rehabilitation. The Inn is also one of a handful of private properties on the North Carolina Birding Trail’s Mountains Region. Our neighbors have names like Chickadee, Tufted Titmouse, Pileated Woodpecker and Swainson’s Warbler, and our night is lit by stars, not neon. Plenty of outdoor and indoor seating allows for admiring nature in four distinct seasons.

The Inn’s five large guest rooms are decorated and named with inspiration from Pisgah National Forest surrounding the Inn. Each have their own private bath.

Brookside Mountain Mist Inn – Waynesville, North Carolina

Brookside Mountain Mist Inn

Periodically we’ll feature one of our properties here to let our readers know about some great gay friendly places to stay:

What makes our Waynesville bed and breakfast lodging different? At Brookside Mountain Mist Inn, you’ll find luxury accommodations combined with over-sized immaculate guest rooms, 3 course gourmet breakfasts, privacy, a quiet park-like setting, and a wonderfully convenient location near the Great Smoky Mountains, Asheville, Biltmore and plenty of things to do.

Enjoy our Blue Ridge Mountain views from our terrace. Browse our downtown Waynesville shops and galleries. Savor a variety of cuisine in many nearby restaurants. Play golf next door. Or take a drive down the Blue Ridge Parkway, just four miles away from our front door. Hike, bike, raft, kayak and fish with lofty mountains (including legendary Cold Mountain), waterfalls and scenic rivers.

After exploring the Smokey Mountains for the day, relax peacefully at our quiet oasis with five spacious, tastefully decorated rooms, each with private bath, fireplace, sitting area and cable TV. Each of our guestrooms is beautifully furnished and include the “little extras” to be expected at a luxury inn or hotel such as soft robes, hair dryers, iron and bath amenities. Awake to a three-course breakfast outside on the terrace (weather permitting) and be greeted by songbirds and playful squirrels near the lily pond and waterfall.

Our park-like setting includes several quiet areas where guests can relax and enjoy our cool mountain breezes, whether it’s from the double hammock by the brook, rocking chairs on the terrace or the cozy glider facing the sunset over the mountains. Inside, relax in a large living room by the fireplace or play one of the games from our rainy day closet. Help yourself to soft drinks, bottled water, snacks and fresh-baked afternoon pastries.

Just a mile away, you’ll find Main Street in downtown Waynesville, a shopper’s paradise with art galleries, antiques, clothing, jewelry and great food. Whether you’re looking for a souvenir or high-end furniture, or just window-shopping, the rewards of a stroll along the brick sidewalks are plentiful. Enjoy the quaint and relaxed atmosphere; take a break and put the bags down at one of several cafes. Head down the hill to Frog Level, the revitalized railroad district, for even more galleries and furniture shops.

Our five large guest rooms in our Waynesville B&B are all located on the ground floor. Amenities in all rooms include heater and a/c, wifi internet access, ceiling fans, alarm clocks, mini fridges, housekeeping, and much more.

We also have a library of books and magazines about local activities and sightseeing, plus novels to enjoy in a rocking chair or by a fire.

Mountainside Cottage – Lesbian Owned Cottage in Alexander, North Carolina

Mountainside Cottage Periodically we’ll feature one of our properties here to let our readers know about some great gay friendly places to stay: Built in 2008, Mountainside Cottage is the perfect place to stay while exploring the wonderful towns of Asheville and Weaverville. The interior is light-filled and sunny, thanks to the many windows and skylights (there’s even a skylight in the shower!). The cottage has central air conditioning for warmer days, as well as ceiling fans for those who prefer a cool breeze. Even though we’re only about 15-20 minutes from downtown Asheville, our cottage is totally secluded. Once you’re here, you can see no one and no one can see you. Imagine sitting in the hot tub at night with no roof overhead — you can look right up at the stars. And it’s perfect because there are no city lights to spoil the view. You can either stay in the cottage and enjoy the hot tub and totally relax or use it as a place to come back to after you’ve explored Asheville. We even have a binder that has restaurant menus, information on the Biltmore Estate, the Blue Ridge Parkway, things to do in Asheville, hikes in the area– complete with maps and written directions. We’ve tried to think of everything to take the guess work out of what to do and how to get there. That way you don’t have to spend all your time planning what to do–you can just go do it! We furnish everything you’ll need for a perfect vacation. Washer/dryer, linens, microwave, toaster, mixer, blender, coffee maker, wine glasses, pots and pans, dishes–there will even be a bottle of champagne in the refrigerator when you arrive! You simply need to bring clothes and food. Even though we do have an outdoor gas grill at the cottage, there’s a great park a mile-and-a-half away where you can cook out beside the French Broad River (yes, you can even hear the river at night). The Ledges Park is also a place where you can put in to kayak the area or go fly fishing. And we’re more than happy to accommodate your pets (dogs only, please!). The cottage is totally surrounded by woods, so it’s a great place for your furry friends to run and play. There’s also a dog park/mountain bike trail a mile from the cottage.
