Fort Lauderdale Gay Bars – The Nomadic Boys

Fort Lauderdale Gay Bars

Fort Lauderdale is out, loud and fabulously proud! Over the past few decades it has become one of the gayest places in the States and was even featured as the ultimate gay holiday for the boys in the trashy movie – “Another Gay Sequel: Gays Gone Wild!”

In terms of gay scene, Wilton Manors is the vibrant gayborhood of Fort Lauderdale, which comes alive every night of the week.

We’ve been to Fort Lauderdale several times, mainly due to the abundance of inexpensive flights from Europe. We used JustFly to search and book our flights, which we recommend because they offer a comprehensive range of options allowing you to search for the lowest prices. We also recommend searching for options to Miami Airport, which is only a 45 minute drive away, to maximise your flight options.

However and whenever you visit Fort Lauderdale, you’re guaranteed to have a great time with warm weather: temperatures rarely dip below 25 degrees (77 Fahrenheit).

The Gay Area of Fort Lauderdale

The main gay area of Fort Lauderdale is Wilton Manors, located around 15 minutes drive inland from the beach. Wilton Manors comprises several blocks with many Fort Lauderdale gay bars, clubs, boutique gay shops, cafes and restaurants. The biggest parties take place on weekends, but there is always a large crowd on every night of the week.

Nearby to Wilton Manors is a small Bohemian road called “Eucalyptus Gardens”. It has a handful of open minded and very colourful cafes like Voo La Voo, as well really cool street art murals. If you’re looking for a gay shop to stock up on your fetish gear, buy new swimwear and other accessories, check out Pride Factory.

Nomadic Boys – Mongolia’s Only Gay Bar

Author: , July 8th, 2015

Mongolia Gay Bar - Nomadic Boys

During our travels in Mongolia, we spent a lot of time in the capital city, Ulan Bator during the popular Naadam festival, where we discovered a subtle gay scene.

Despite being a very traditionally conservative country, we found Mongolia’s only gay bar called Hanzo, which has since rebranded and re opened (from June 2015) under the new name of: d.d / h.z.

We met the charming owner, Zorig Alima and picked his brains about owning a gay bar in Ulan Bator and what it was like growing up as a gay man in Mongolia.

Nomadic Boys – Owning a Bar in Bangkok

Nomadic Boys - ThailandSilom in Bangkok is home to a really fun and exciting gay scene, which we initially discovered with our ladyboy friend Regina.

The pedestrianised road, Silom Soi 4 is a staple for all gay travellers visiting Bangkok, for its large numbers of gay bars facing each other, heaving with crowds almost every night of the week. Telephone and Balcony are the two largest ones where the tables are strategically placed so you are facing the ongoing people traffic coming in and out.

Stranger Bar is one of the smaller bars and our favourite. After many drunken nights here, we buddied up with its very charismatic co-owner Chakgai Jermkwan, to learn more about gay Bangkok and Thailand.

Krave Massive LogoLas Vegas got a little gayer this last weekend with the opening of the largest gay bar in the world. On Top Magazine reports:

On Saturday, the club opened one of its dance floors and its main lobby to challenge Privilege Ibiza, located near San Rafael on the Spanish Island of Ibiza, as the world’s largest gay club. The massive 84,000 square foot nightclub houses five themed dance rooms, three bars, a martini lounge, a VIP lounge, two stages – one for comedy, the other for performing arts theater – a gift shop, a theater operated by all-gay Guest House Films, and a lesbian dance club.

Gauteng’s Club Babylon

Author: , April 29th, 2013

Club Babylon GautengWhat are gay clubs like in other parts of the world? LustralBoy reports from South Africa:

Editor at Large, Ludwig, hit the dancefloors at Baylon and ETC, camera in hand, to capture the weekend energy and unbridled fun of these two establishments. Babylon, named after Club Babylon from legendary gay drama, “Queer as Folk”, has, in its three year life, become a local institution. Neither hidden away nor tucked discreetly in the corner of a dingy alley, Babylon proclaims its pride without inhibition.

Sounds like fun… maybe it’s time to plan a trip to South Africa…

BEYOND Gay Martini Bar Buenos Aires sneak preview

Author: , May 8th, 2012

BEYOND Gay Martini Bar Buenos Aires sneak preview | Buenos Aires, Argentina | Will Buenos Aires get back on its feet and revamp a sophisticated, trendy and interesting Gay Night Scene, that somehow, sometime along the way, in the last two years, has totally  been lost ? Well judging from what I have seen today, the answer is YES. BEYOND, the first ever Gay Martini Bar of Argentina and of the city of
Buenos Aires, right over Juncal street, meters away from 9 de Julio Avenue in
Recoleta
. Today, Edgar its owner – original from Chicago, US – invited me to a sneak preview of what by late May 2012 will become, hopefully, Tuesdays thru Sundays, into the hub of the Gay Scene of Buenos Aires.
… A few month ago, this was a multilevel furniture store with a cafe on the top floor, explained to me Edgar. I used to come here, because I liked the old-french and art deco style furniture. I would stop by to have a look and spend sometime at the cafe, but the store was always empty. So I came with the idea to take over, furniture included and transform it into an exclusive Gay Martini Bar. Buenos Aires needs and deserves an space like this for the local and international gay community…
The venue will have three levels, a BEYOND members area, and a VIP room with a private access and elevator. They propose an innovative Martinis Menu, full bar and Tapas. To be open from 06PM till late night, six days a week. The average price of drinks will range from Pesos 45 (USD 10) on. Chill out music and randomly live DJ performances.
Personally, I am so excited about this new option, in a very depressed and almost inexistent gay night scene in Buenos Aires. A place to have a quick bite, drinks (specially my favorite Martinis), mingle with locals and foreigners in style, enjoy a sophisticated atmosphere, chill out and lounge over funky music. But well that is what I have in my head from seeing the space and listening to Edgar, but we will have to wait and see the final product, which I hope it wont become in yet another disappointment. Beyond, to be opened late May 2012. Juncal between Libertad and Talcahuano.
Hey guys, dress up, shine your shoes, a get your act together and attitude to walk down the main stairs of Beyond. I, personally, look forward to spend sometime at Beyond on my next visits to Buenos Aires, hopefully to a beyond happening, interesting and smart gay night scene. CM

Drink & Drag las Vegas

Drink & Drag Las VegasDrinkers, gamers, and bowlers will flock to the nation’s first drag queen staffed bar and gaming venue. Drink & Drag will celebrate its official grand opening on Las Vegas’ historic Fremont Street, Saturday, May 5.

This exciting new concept is brought to Downtown Las Vegas by the owner of the #1 gay nightclub in the country, Krave Nightclub. Much like Krave, Drink & Drag will be a haven for the LGBT community, but plans to dazzle straight clientele as well with fabulous drag performances and the same award-winning service Krave has provided Las Vegas for the last seven years.

Drink & Drag Las VegasThe spacious 22,000-square-foot venue features 12 bowling lanes, billiards, 100-inch projector HD console gaming, interactive gaming chairs, air hockey, table-top board games, jewel-encrusted chandeliers, lounge seating and more. Guests will be served VIP style while bowling, shooting pool, or while enjoying multiplayer action on Playstation 3s. Drink & Drag also offers four lanes of private bowling, full bar, specialty drinks, cutting edge lighting and fully automated audio/video sequences to accent the upcoming performances.

Drink & Drag Las VegasDrink & Drag is expected to become a major draw for Downtown Las Vegas and will be opening on the second level of the Neonopolis (450 Fremont St., Ste 250), a 250000-square-foot entertainment complex and shopping center. Located in the former Jillian’s space, Drink & Drag is neighbored by the much buzzed Heart Attack Grill and overlooks the neon courtyard. With over 24 full-time drag queens, Drink & Drag may very well be the largest employer of drag queens in the United States.

“We are incredibly proud to share our vision of Drink & Drag with the public,” says Tyler Caiden, general manager of Drink & Drag. “After witnessing the recent mainstream popularity in Middle America of drag-focused TV shows, like ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ and ‘Drag U,’ we decided it was the right time to offer that real-life experience on Fremont Street.”
