South Africa Gay Tours - The Globetrotter Guys

South Africa has to be one of our all-time favorite destinations. In fact if you ask Sion, he will probably say it is his favorite place in the world. Why? Quite simply, we have yet to find another place that offers everything South Africa does.

You have modern cities like Cape Town and Johannesburg. There is a multitude of stunning beaches stretching all the way along the coast (Fact: Cape Towns beaches have been named some of the best in the world, AND Cape Town has 2 gay beaches). The scenery is just incredible, with forests, oceans and mountains stretching for miles. Of course, there is the wildlife, with the opportunity of spotting the Big 5, either in a private reserve or a National Park. And to top it all off, the food and wine is some of the best we have ever eaten and drank, at some of the lowest prices too.

With so much to see and do, one of the best ways to make the most of this incredible destination is to join a fully escorted, organised tour, especially if you are short on time. And being in a gay-friendly destination, why not join a gay tour of South Africa, ensuring that you will end up travelling with like minded people.

LGBTQ Vacation: South Africa Gay Tours

During our time in Cape Town, we were fortunate to connect with Jakes Conradie, founder and CEO of Amatungulu Tours. Amatungulu Tours has a specific gay division, LGBTQ Vacation. We partnered with Jakes and were able to experience part of his product and find out more about this gay-owned tour operator.

Author: , December 19th, 2018

Pink Iceland

Pink Iceland was founded in 2011 by Eva Maria and Birna who shortly thereafter asked one of their friends, Hannes (a.k.a. Sasi) to join the company. Their tiny start-up is now the first and foremost Queer travel, event and wedding planner in Iceland.

Now, having succeeded in their mission Pink Iceland employs seven full time members of staff as well as a few freelance tour guides at any given time. Many things have changed since those first years, not least the clientele which now sees many straight allies of the LGBTQI+ community seeking Pink Iceland’s help with planning their nuptials and/or travels in Iceland. This despite having never lost their queer focus. As Eva (Pink Mama) puts it: “We are proud of who we are and the community we serve. If anyone has a problem with that, we wouldn’t really want to work with them anyway!

We believe in creating unforgettable experiences and lasting memories. We will always try to match, or beat, online prices for accommodation, activities and services, while still offering 24/7 access to a real human being, ready willing and able to assist you with all your needs.

Six Gay Tours to Cuba

Author: , March 2nd, 2015

Cuba - CarThanks to President Obama’s recent initiative to thaw relations with Cuba, our geographically near (yet ideologically distant) neighbor, it’s now a little easier to go. But don’t expect to hop on a plane, grab a hotel and hit the beach on your own just yet.

HAVANA Gareth Williams smallerThere are still restrictions in place, specifically with respect to pure leisure tourism — it’s still not legal for Americans, who must travel under a general or specific license (i.e., visa). Check out this comprehensive Q&A in the New York Times and visit our blog for further information.

So how exactly do you go gay to Cuba?

There are quite a few gay tour operators running fantastic trips to get you to Cuba safely and (mostly) legally. Our friend Matt Smith has a licensed group for Cuba’s Pride Week May 4-10, 2015, and a license to do custom People-to-People trips if you’re looking for something customized. As a Canadian company, Out Adventures presents the most leisure-oriented of all the LGBT tours, with departures scheduled March 7-15 and December 27, 2015-January 4, 2016. (U.S. citizens may join at their own risk and in six years of running tours, they’ve brought a number of U.S. citizens without a problem — inquire directly with them for details.)

With them you will avoid the inconvenience of large groups, queues, getting lost or always looking at the map.

The company has prepared different routes around the city, which will allow you to visit the most important monuments like Paseo de Gracia, Cataluña square, las Ramblas, el Parc Güell, la Sagrada Familia, Montjuic Mountain, the Gothic quarter or the port area, among many others.
