Location
Situated equally between Portsmouth, Portland, Kennebunkport, Ogunquit and Maine beaches, the location of our southern Maine gay B&B offers the perfect home base for guests to experience everything the area has to offer.
History
Rising stately above the surrounding landscape and representing Maine’s most impressive wooden Queen Anne-Eastlake Victorian style, The Lady Mary Inn serves as a proud homage to the house’s original builder and owner, beloved industrialist and philanthropist Mary Hurd.
In 1893, having inherited and expanded her father’s woolen mill, Mary committed to raising a structure that would honor her father’s legacy and make clear her commitment to the town of North Berwick, its people and heritage.
Nearly 130 years later, the mansion retains its classic woodwork, stained glass window, ornate fireplaces, and 11-foot high decoratively painted ceilings and gilded friezes.
Owners
For both Ryan and Steve, the word hospitality encompasses so much! And while, as individuals, the passions and interests that led to their collective ownership of The Lady Mary Inn varied greatly, they share a common commitment to exceeding, in ways large and small, your expectations of what it means to ‘get away.’
Tail-Wagging Mascots
Ryan and Steve’s vision for The Lady Mary Inn was always about way more than merely offering people a place to spend a night or two. Their heartfelt desire was to create an environment so welcoming, comforting and relaxing that it immediately conjured up the magical feeling of truly being whole-heartedly welcomed home. And nothing says welcome home—even for first-time guests—quite like being greeted by the boundless enthusiasm and loving exuberance of two tail-wagging canine mascots: Vivi and Clark!
