Central Whidbey Island is in the “Olympic Rainshadow”, behind the Olympic Mountains where we only get about half as much rain as Seattle. Whidwood is a great base for outdoor activities, including hiking, cycling, whale watching, kayaking, beach combing, horseback riding, birdwatching, and much more.
Whidbey Island is also a great place for people who enjoy gardens, with more than a dozen nurseries on the island, many with beautiful display gardens, including the renowned Meerkerk Rhododendron Garden.
Art lovers and antique collectors will also enjoy searching for hidden treasure on Whidbey Island. Coupeville and Langley are filled with interesting boutiques and art galleries. Coupeville is the second oldest town in Washington State, and its historic waterfront area has lots of interesting shops and great restaurants.
Like to go on wine tours? Just outside of Langley, the Whidbey Island Winery is a great spot for wine tasting, and there are six other wineries to visit, too.

Back at Whidwood, you’ll find a large library of books and magazines – if it’s raining out, relax in bed, read a book by the fireplace, slip into our hot tub, doze off in the sunroom, or enjoy some wine and conversation with us and our other guests.
Your spacious studio cabin includes a queen bed and a garden view, with a fireplace, sofa, table and chairs, as well as a small refrigerator, radio/ipod dock and wifi internet access. There’s also a private bathroom just across the patio, twelve feet away. Bathrobes are provided, and the cabin includes use of the hot tub.
