Sometimes we just want to get away from it all and get back to the basics. Gosherd Valley Cottage is just the place for you. It is located about 95 miles west of St. Louis and about 15 miles west of Hermann, Missouri which is the wine capital of Missouri. Actually it is a working farm with lots of geese and chickens. It is situated on over 80 acres of VERY secluded woods and a beautiful pond to enjoy. Gosherd Valley Cottage has just won the prestigious 2016 Houzz Award for their comfy interiors. The “Cottage” is nestled in the bottom of the valley on a working farm. It is the original 1800’s homestead. It has three bedrooms, bath, and a large outdoor deck. This is a whole house rental with complete privacy. The owner, Connie Cunningham lives on the property in a different building so that you have total privacy however she is on hand all the time should you need anything. The photo of her and her dog is by the up and coming Missouri photographer, Gabri Brochu. The kitchen, which is huge, is fully stocked with pots, pans dishes and dining utensils so you can cook up your own meals for lunch and dinner. And if you choose, she has fresh range free chicken to purchase to make a truly home cooked country meal. For breakfast they offer a nice selection of local bacon, eggs, baked goods and all the essentials for cooking 2 breakfasts. A complimentary bottle of local wine will be waiting for you. Once you drive thru the gates and keep on driving around the bend and down into the valley, you are in a world of paradise! We loved it! It is extremely quiet and peaceful and serene. Each morning we took a walk thru the woods and valley and to the lake. The lake has new floating docks at the campsite. They have a LOT of geese and chickens and talk about having fresh eggs for breakfast everyday! You will not get eggs that fresh anywhere else. While we were there, two friends of Connie’s, Felicia and Kati had us all over to their place for cocktails and dinner. Their “Place” is a real log cabin built in the 1860’s and sits on the top of a big hill. You can look down on the entire valley from their place. Thru the years it has been completely renovated to perfection. Their interior furnishings feels as though you are really in the 1860’s. They have landscaped their lawns beautiful. THANKS Kati and Felicia for your generous hospitality! Another fabulous item that they produce in Morrison is CAVIAR! Yes, Caviar! They have been producing Caviar for many years there and it is truly fabulous! It is produced by Show Me Caviar Company in Morrison. With champagne it makes for a very delicious treat.
