Black Walnut Point Inn - Tilghman Island Gay B&B

Periodically we’ll feature one of our properties here to let our readers know about some great gay friendly places to stay:

By any measure, Tilghman Island’s Black Walnut Point is unique. A private gate secures the half-mile drive through fifty seven acres of bird sanctuary before it emerges at our six-acre island of lawn. When the sun rises over the broad mouth of the Choptank River and sets over the length of Chesapeake Bay, guests enjoy wind, waves and endless water views.

We even have a pair of nesting eagles, osprey and black ducks, as well as migrating butterflies, water fowl and song birds. You might even see bay dolphins, skates and schools of bluefish, and the back dock overlooking the cove is an ideal location for watching the herons fish.

At night the sky is full of stars, another surprise of nature, making Black Walnut Point a quiet, secret, peaceful place – just an hour’s drive from the Chesapeake Bay Bridge.

Black Walnut Point Inn includes the main house, originally built in the 1840’s, and three luxury cabins. We’re open all year, and each of our guests has a key to the sanctuary gate.

Each guest room offers panoramic water views, and has a separate bathroom. All of our guests have access to the main house, including the dining room, living room, sun porch, grounds, swimming pool and dock.

We serve a full breakfast between 8 and 10 AM, and lemonade, iced tea, hot tea and snacks are available throughout the day.

Off the point, Tilghman Island offers several fine restaurants, from fine dining to bistros overlooking the drawbridge at Knapp Narrows.

Further inland, St. Michaels is where you’ll find the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum, as well as a number of festivals and great restaurants, galleries, quirky shops and boat tours.

Back on the island, there are kayak, canoe and jet ski rentals, fishing charters, lighthouse tours and sails with Captain Wade on the skipjack Rebecca T. Ruark, built in 1886 and registered as a national historic landmark.

If you and your partner plan to get married, soon, we also have an officiant on-site!

Looking for the perfect Atlantic Coast retreat for your next adventure or getaway? Come stay with us at Tilghman Island’s Black Walnut Point Inn!
