Mexico City’s Metropolitan Cathedral – Keep Calm and Wander

Mexico City's Metropolitan Cathedral - Keep Calm and Wander

Mexico City’s Metropolitan Cathedral is the oldest and largest cathedral in Latin America. Located right at the heart of the city, the church is an imposing structure that demands your attention.

For visitors, it’s just another tourist attraction, but for the locals, it is a symbol and soul of their faith. It’s also the seat of the Archdiocese of Mexico. Its complete name is Catedral Metropolitana de la Asuncion de la Santisima Virgen Maria a los cielos. That’s a mouthful, right?

In English, it is translated as Metropolitan Cathedral of the Assumption of the Most Blessed Virgin Mary into Heaven. Even in English, that is still a mouthful to say.

Views From the Berlin Cathedral Dome – Keep Calm and Wander

Views From the Berlin Cathedral Dome - Keep Calm and Wander

The Berlin Cathedral dome and the views from up there may not impress you much, but the climb to the Baroque dome is a nice experience you’ll remember. After exploring the Cathedral’s interior, climb the stairs to the top of the dome.

A 360-degree view of the city is awaiting for those who’ll make it there.

Berlin’s historic district is so close looking down from above.

Though the dome is not as tall the other Cathedral domes in Europe, the views from here give you a different way of looking at the German capital.

Inside the Cologne Cathedral – Keep Calm and Wander

Cologne Cathedral - Keep Calm and Wander

Now, that you’ve seen the 360-degree views of the facade, it is now time for you to see what’s inside Cologne Cathedral. In my previous post, I revealed that the main reason why this Koln Cathedral is popular is because of the remains of the Three Wise Men or The Three Magi.

If you are a Catholic, you know who these people I’m talking about. For those who don’t – they are also called, “The Three Kings” the first visitors when Jesus Christ was born. They found the baby Jesus just by following the shiniest star that night. Every January 6, the Catholic world celebrates the “Three King’s Day” which also signals the end of the Christmas celebration.

And you might be wondering why I know of all this information? Nope, it’s not Google or Alexa! It’s because I went to a Catholic high school. I do still remember snippets of my Christian Living class!

Views from the Roof of Milan’s Duomo – Keep Calm and Wander

Milan's Duomo - Keep Calm and Wander

If standing on top of Milan Cathedral won’t take your breath away – you better check in yourself to a hospital. 😀 No, I’m not kidding. Milan Duomo is one of the very few man-made architectural wonder that blew my mind away. It’s one of those places you don’t only have to see but also experience it.

From its facade to its internal core, this architectural wonder will leave you with a lasting impression. And from its underground archaeological museum to its roof, the Duomo shows us a contrast of what Milan was like and what Milan is today.

Climb the stairs or use an elevator?

Here’s the deal: the former will cost you 8 euros and the latter is 10 euros. However, the lift doesn’t go all the way up to the roof but only on the last floor and then you have to climb the remaining steps.
