Best Gay Adventure Cruises for 2020 - The Nomadic Boys

Do you know what we love about cruises? Lazing around and being pampered in ultimate luxury. But do you know what makes a cruise even more exciting for us? The opportunity to visit exciting destinations where you can take part in lots of different adventurous activities.

For us, gay cruises that have an adventurous twist have a special kind of magic to them, whether it’s snorkelling with sea lion pups in the Galapagos islands or kayaking in the icy waters of mighty Antarctica. It’s also one of the most exciting ways to tick off lots of those bucket list items!

These are some of our favourite gay adventure cruises on offer at the moment. We’ve split this guide up into two parts: the first focusing on exclusively gay adventure cruises, the second on gay groups that are part of a larger (“non-gay”) group.

In addition, there are several other gay cruises to the Galapagos to choose from, whether it’s a large group leaving on a fixed date, or aboard a private gay charter. Five Gay Naked Cruises for 2019 – The Nomadic Boys

Five Gay Naked Cruises for 2019 - The Nomadic Boys

What can we say? We love a naked cruise!

There’s nothing like standing on the deck of a ship whilst being completely nude. We can’t get enough of the sensation of the sun beating down on our skin, listening to the waves crashing against the sides of the boat. The seawater helps create such a refreshing ambience, one of serenity and calm. Plus, the nude gay factor means we’re surrounded by other naked men, great music, delicious drinks, and fine dining. It’s basically a floating gay man’s paradise…

We’ve never felt so close as a couple than when we were sailing across the sea, embracing the bodies that were given to us. Free of all shame and bodily insecurity, naked cruises are made to make you feel proud of yourself, whether you’re single or a couple.

If it’s your first time, you might feel inadequate standing beside other naked men with ripped muscles and perfect figures, but you will really quickly feel like a part of the crowd. This is a list of our favourite naked gay cruises from all around the world that we think you should set sail on in 2019.

Sailing Greece – Passport Magazine

Sailing Greece - Passport Magazine

I often thought about the timelessness of sailing Greece while aboard the Star Flyer, a 360-foot-long, four-mast clipper ship. It was a natural connection, because we were cruising aboard a modern vessel through the Aegean, the world’s great, famous sea of myths and legends. There I stood on the bow of a gleaming tall ship, traversing the same stretch of water as Odysseus at war with the Trojans. But unlike the tribulations in Homer’s Odyssey, I was relaxing with an Aperol spritz under blue skies.

This was my first sailing cruise—a weeklong voyage with Star Clippers (www.starclippers.com) through the Northern Cyclades Islands. The trip would take us round trip from Athens on an unforgettable journey to Patmos, Amorgos, Mykonos, Monemvasia, and to Kusadasi, Turkey.

Sailing is distinct from other cruises. Motor-powered cruising across an ocean or river have their own appeal, but the opportunity to sail was an intriguing alternative. As I plotted the trip along with my spouse and co-adventurer Denise, we wondered how the boat would feel on the sea, how much we’d rely on wind versus engine power, how easily would the crew manage the enormous sails?

That curiosity led us aboard the Star Flyer with open minds. At the cruise port of Pireaus in Athens, we climbed the gangplank on a hot Mediterranean afternoon, joining our fellow passengers in the ship’s open-air Tropical Bar where we awaited embarkation.

Packing for a Gay Cruise – The Globetrotter Guys

gay cruise

You might think that packing for a gay cruise is like packing for any other cruise, however, it’s quite different indeed!

Our first cruise experience was with Celebrity Cruises and although this was not a ‘gay cruise’, it was very gay friendly and you can read more about it here. We loved the experience and as a result booked ourselves on to an Atlantis gay cruise to the Caribbean for the following year!

However, for our first Atlantis gay cruise our packing list is significantly different. Having talked to many avid Atlantis cruisers, there are many items to pack that we had never thought about in the slightest! Take a look at our list ‘What to pack for a gay cruise’ below and see if you agree.

Greek Magic on the Aegean Sea – Gay City News

Greek Magic

On our last day in Greece, we found the sweetest spot. I was there with my spouse, Denise, floating in the crescent bay of historic Monemvasia. The sky was pure blue, and the warm water so clear we could see the rounded stones lining the sea floor.

We returned to the beach, where we’d left our things at a café table perched a few feet from the calm, rolling waves. We sipped Greek wine and ate olives and herbed tzatziki, and asked ourselves the question that bookends every magical trip: Why can’t we stay here forever?

Enchantment in travel often comes from expectations exceeded. For me, Greece has been on my to-do list for as long as I can remember. Enraptured by mythology and ancient tales, I had visions of this land and Aegean waters that I’d probably idealized. I envisioned dreamy light and air, and imagined delicacies involving phyllo dough and figs, served with house-made wines and ouzo. It all seemed so tantalizing that I made myself tamp down projections to let Greece reveal itself, without my eager idealizations.

Then we arrived, boarded a clipper ship, and discovered a mixture of sights and scenes that inspired and delighted us at every port.

We have always wanted to do a gay sailing trip and have always wanted to go Greek island hopping! The combination of the two will be incredible. You can expect crystal clear waters, iconic scenery, golden beaches and the chance to explore 5 stunning Greek islands.

Where Do We Sail?

Our gay sailing trip will start in Mykonos, the gay capital of Greece! August will be the height of the season with parties such as Xlsior Mykonos being held and the island is sure to be full with beautiful bronzed boys. The boys aside, Mykonos looks truly stunning and we can not wait to explore the picturesque town.

From Mykonos we will head to Paros, one of the most popular islands of the Cyclades. Here, like all the Greek islands, expect to find whitewashed sugar houses, paved streets and blue-domed buildings. The island is perfect for everyone and also boasts some beautiful golden beaches.

Next we head to Ios. Ios is known for its lazy days any party fueled nights. As places like Santorini become more popular places like Ios still give you the opportunity to explore without so many tourists, especially since it has no airport so you can only arrive in style by boat or yacht like us!

From here we go to the iconic Santorini. This is often a must visit destination on anyone’s travel bucket list and for good reason! It’s famous for its perfect sunsets, beaches, food and is said to have some of the friendlist people around. It’s a photographers paradise so if you are looking for that perfect Instagram shot, look no further!

We will stop back at Ios on the way to island number 5, Naxos. Naxos is the largest of the Cyclades island group. It has mountain villages, ancient ruins and is well know for its long stretches of exotic beaches.

Finally we arrive back at Mykonos and finish with a White Party, check out what other themed nights we have below!

Gay Crete Beach Vacations – Gay Star News

gay Crete - pixabay

Gay Holidays in Greece are certainly linked with the most popular destinations of Mykonos, Athens and Thessaloniki. But have you ever considered visiting Crete?

Crete, the second largest island in Greece, is known for its crystal-clear beaches (many of which are awarded with a blue flag), beautiful cities with intense nightlife and handsome locals. So, this island will gift you lots of new experiences to remember!

Cretans are distinguished for their great hospitality, which has also become part of their culture. Their behavior is so honest and sincere, that you will feel like you are with your best friend.

That said, you will notice that some Cretans might become very ‘touchy,’ almost flirting. That’s due to their extreme friendliness and poor understanding of personal space, so don’t misunderstand and think that they are trying to hit on you because you will surely put yourself into a very awkward situation!

On a Gay Cruise – Gay Star News

Gay Cruise
The Netflix documentary, Dream Boat, follows a cast of gay men aboard their first ever gay cruise | Photo: Netflix

After the recent tragedy on a gay cruise this week, where 36-year-old Joel Taylor, star of Discovery’s Storm Chasers, died of an overdose onboard, I thought I would share my own gay cruise experience. Sadly, the fact someone died of an overdose onboard doesn’t totally surprise me.

I don’t mean to say any gay cruise encourages drug use; they all have strict policies which prohibit illegal drug use. But, while the organizers’ intentions are good, many decide to break the law and sneak drugs onto the ship to ‘enhance’ their onboard experience.

As soon as you board, you’ll find a huge array of activities to choose from. But, where a gay cruise differs from others is by the sheer amount of men on board, of course.

Being on a gay cruise makes you the majority, not minority

You are no longer a minority as a gay man – in fact, being gay is now mainstream. This freedom of self-expression is one of the many reasons that people choose to attend a gay cruise. However, with such a large array of gay men from around the world in attendance, stereotypes begin to emerge and the ‘freedom’ is taken too far.
