By any measure, Black Walnut Point on Maryland's Tilghman Island is unique. A private gate and a half-mile drive through fifty seven acres of bird sanctuary leads you to a natural paradise and our six-acre island of lawn.
As the sun rises over the Choptank River and sets over the length of Chesapeake Bay, you'll enjoy sea breezes, ocean waves and endless gorgeous water views at our Chesapeake Bay gay B&B.
Our property is chock-full of wildlife - a pair of nesting eagles, osprey and black ducks, migrating butterflies, water fowl and singing birds. You may even see dolphins, skates and schools of bluefish out on the bay. And the back dock, looking out over the cove, is the perfect place to watch the herons fish.
At night, our Maryland sky is full of stars, another surprise of nature, making Black Walnut Point a quiet, secret, peaceful place just an hour by car from the Chesapeake Bay Bridge.
Black Walnut Point Inn includes the main house, originally built in the 1840's, and three luxury cabins. We're open year-round, and each of our guests gets a key to the sanctuary gate.
Our guest rooms offer panoramic water views, and have their own private bathrooms. All of our guests have access to the main house too, including the common areas of the dining room, living room, sun porch, grounds, swimming pool and dock.
We serve a full breakfast between 8-10 AM, and lemonade, iced tea, hot tea and snacks are available all day long. Off the point, Tilghman Island offers several fine restaurants, from fine dining to bistros overlooking the drawbridge at Knapp Narrows.
Further inland in St. Michaels you'll find the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum, as well as a number of festivals and great restaurants, galleries, quirky shops and boat tours.
Back on the island, there are kayak, canoe and jet ski rentals, fishing charters, lighthouse tours and sails with Captain Wade on the skipjack Rebecca T. Ruark, built in 1886 and registered as a national historic landmark.
If you and your partner plan to get married, we also have an officiant on-site!
