El Mirasol Villas - Palm Springs Gay Resort

El Mirasol Villas is the original Palm Springs resort catering to gay men since 1975. Built by Howard Hughes in 1947, the hotel’s charm and privacy have preserved while offering the style and comfort sought by today’s gay traveler. Walled and gated, this private resort is in the Warm Sands area, only blocks away from downtown Palm Springs, gay nightlife, hiking, shopping, casino gambling and gourmet dining.

Meandering garden paths lead to bungalows, one or two bedroom suites and studios, two gorgeous clothing optional pools and a 10 man Jacuzzi/Spa with an outdoor shower. The hotel even features a eucalyptus steam room.

All rooms have California king beds, private baths, Flat Screen wireless TV and DVD players, some with kitchens and private patios.

La Dolce Vita Resort & SpaPeriodically we’ll feature one of our properties here to let our readers know about some great gay friendly places to stay:

La Dolce Vita Resort & Spa is an elegant, upscale, gay owned clothing optional resort in Palm Springs. We offer 28 guest rooms, accented with Italian touches, on just under an acre of land.

The Resort features cabanas where you can relax away from the heat of the desert, enjoy our two heated pools, soak away your cares in one of our two hot tubs, relax in our twelve man steam room, or work out in our outdoor exercise area. We foster a friendly, no attitude atmosphere.

Pamper yourself at our day spa with massages, facials, waxing and luxurious body treatments designed for men and performed only by male therapists.

The entire resort is clothing optional – enjoy the warmth of the Palm Springs sun on your naked skin.

The property is blanketed with micro misters, which spray a fine water mist into the air and cool the ambient temperature as much as ten degrees.

We also offer many opportunities for our guests to meet each other, including breakfast & social hours in the evening.

You can enjoy beautiful sunsets over the San Jacinto Mountains, and stroll through our gardens – fruit trees, palms, cacti, stone sculptures and fountains

Our gay resort is close to all the gay bars, restaurants, and shops in Palm Springs. Palm Springs hosts some of the largest gay events in the country, including Jeffrey Sanker’s White Party, Palm Springs Gay Pride and Palm Springs Gay Leather Pride.

Palm Springs has one of the largest gay and lesbian populations per capita in the country, and is also one of the top 2 destinations for gay travel.

We also offer free wifi internet access, and a computer internet station for guest use. There’s a safe in each room that’s big enough to hold a laptop computer.

Each of our rooms has AVEDA bath products for gay men who expect the best, as well as spa bath robes.

By the end of the evening, as you stare up at the stars, you’ll have arrived at La Dolce Vita, “The Sweet Life”.

Gay Palm Springs

With cold weather approaching in Chicago now is the time to take a trip to the desert paradise of gay Palm Springs, California. The name is said to come from Spanish explorers who described it as being the palm of God’s hand. As a tourist there is a lot to grab onto.

American Airlines has direct flights to this balmy destination from Chicago. Just walking through the open ceiling airport warms the soul as the dry heat and palm trees are in stark contrast to the Windy City.

There are peak times to visit Palm Springs throughout the year to center around events. For example there is an International Film Festival in January that grows bigger every year. The White Party for gays and the Dinah Shore Weekend for lesbians are both held in April with huge numbers of people. Although Pride is practically every day in this town it officially arrives the first weekend in November with a festival paired with it to celebrate.

While over a dozen new hotels have opened in the past two years, the private resorts are the place to be and be seen. Choosing the right resort can make or break a trip to gay Palm Springs. There is a variety to suit almost every taste like one specifically for the Bear community or couples who travel together.

Palm Springs: Like Having an Architectural Time Machine

Author: , March 18th, 2011

Gay Palm SpringsAfter months of gray skies and chilly temperatures, a few days in the warm Southern California desert, drenched in sunshine, felt just about right during a winter trip to Palm Springs. During the day, high temperatures in winter months average between 70 and 80 degrees, which is why October to May is the town’s high season for tourism. Visit in the summer and you might just melt: Daily high temperatures average between 100 and 110 degrees.

With a population of a little more than 48,000, Palm Springs is a small town but it’s part of a growing region, the Coachella Valley, which also includes nearby Cathedral City, Rancho Mirage, Palm Desert, Indian Wells, La Quinta, Indio and Thousand Palms

For tourists from chillier climes, the appeal of Palm Springs — beyond the sensation of bare skin absorbing much-needed warmth — might be as simple as this: Architecture, a show and a ride with a view.
