Built in 1886, for Mr George Alexander Smith, Sennen House is Picton's most magnificent colonial villa.
The exterior of the house no longer sits on its 25 acres but is set in half an acre of formal gardens with a backdrop of 5 acres of native bush, perfectly displaying its fine verandahs, and detailed exterior woodwork. The wisteria, which appears in early photographs, still twines its way up the side of the house.
In March 2006 the house, grounds and native bush were covenanted under the Queen Elizabeth II National Trust to further protect this important natural habitat together with the significant historic and architectural merit of the property. A few trees, planted when the property was built, such as the oak trees in the paddock and the camellia tree to the rear of the property are also protected under this scheme.
Restored in keeping with its gracious style and era, historic Sennen House offers authentic and elegant boutique accommodation consisting of a studio room and 2 apartments. All rooms come with free Wi-Fi, flat screen Tv's and DVD players as well as private entrances, kitchenettes and dining areas.
