HISTORIC GREIST MILL BY WATERFALL GORGE

The Inn by the Mill is a beautiful, one-of-a-kind historic stone grist mill located in the Leatherstocking Region of Central New York, along New York's Mohawk Valley Heritage Corridor.

Our Central NY B&B is in the Adirondack Foothills, just above Cooperstown, not far from the Mohawk River Erie Canal Marina & Canalway Trail.

The Mill & its tunnel has a long, amazing history - it was a station on the Underground Railroad in the 1840's. Our gorgeous stone grist mill is unlike any other property in upstate New York, an important, historic architectural masterpiece which embodies the rich history of New York's Mohawk Valley.

The old Mill looks much the same today as when it was first built. You can almost imagine horse-drawn wagons loaded with grain, waiting by the door to unload their cargo.

Come stay with us and relax as soon as you arrive - you'll feel like you have just left the modern world behind. Staying at the Inn by the Mill is like stepping back in time. We've worked hard to blend the historic charm and technology of the 1800's with the up-to-date amenities of the 21st century. Our 1835 Stone Grist Mill Complex is listed on both Federal and New York State Register of Historic Places.

We're right next to Timmerman Creek in a quiet park-like setting, and the property features a natural stone gorge, cascading waterfalls, and wide flower and water gardens.

And check out the views from our Cottages! You might even see deer feeding in the forest across the waterfall gorge.

Every morning, we serve a deluxe continental breakfast along with home-made breads and pastries. During high-season, enjoy the museum-like Emporium-Ice Cream Billiard Parlor, where you can make your own complimentary ice cream creations and play a round of pool.

Love the outdoors? Why not relax in one of our creekside hammocks, sway on a covered swing or meditate in our Zen Garden.

Our property includes the 1894 Mill Guest House - four romantic guestrooms - and the 1888 seasonal Hog'n Haus Cottage, which looks over a private gorge with cascading waterfalls.

Originally constructed during the Blizzard of 1888 as a Hog House, it has been lovingly restored to its original glory. The cottage's luxurious decorations might just put you in Hog Heaven! It's truly romantic and private, with the soft rush and bubbling of cascading waterfalls in the background. There's also an outdoor jacuzzi looking out over the natural gorge and waterfalls.

Or try the up-stream CliffSide Guest Cottage. CliffSide Cottage is perched upon a cliff, with a path that leads down to the cascading Old Mill Stream with a fantastic view of the Grist Mill below the Gorge. This cottage has two bedrooms, a game room, a living room, and even a waterside sitting room with fireplace. There's also a bathroom with tub/shower, washer and dryer, large television, CD player and a modern, well-stocked kitchen. Relax in the private, outdoor jacuzzi that overlooks the natural gorge and waterfalls.

Hungry? Have dinner in the nearby Beardslee Castle (which might be haunted) for some gourmet cuisine. There are also many other great restaurants are nearby.

We're also close to the 400-mile long Erie Canalway Trail. From here, you can walk or bike all the way to Albany in the East or Canada to the west.

If you're looking for a great gay friendly place to stay in Upstate New York, come relax at the Inn by the Mill, and step back into history.
