ENJOY A QUIET, PEACEFUL COUNTRY GETAWAY
Welcome to Pennsylvania's Hard Aground Farm, a beautifully-remodeled vintage farmhouse on eighty-seven acres of woodland, pastures, and hay fields. Hard Aground is a working farm and is the home to numerous critters: cows, chickens, horses, and cats. Wake up each morning to the calming sounds of horses nickering or the occasional cow bellow from out in the fields.
The full kitchen is perfect for cooking meals or for entertaing. There's also a propane grill on the deck, which can seat eight or more guests. The kitchen table can comfortably seat six guests.
The spacious living room is a great place to play games, watch movies or read a good book. The love seat can be made into a single bed. On the main level, Hard Aground's open floor plan also has a small office area with a lovely view of a hillside pasture with grazing cows and horses. The Canadian geese are especially fun to watch in season, and the same view can be enjoyed from the main level bathroom and the antique claw-foot bath.
Next to to the living room, you'll find a bedroom with a queen and twin bunk beds. Upstairs, there's a small sitting room perfect for reading and another bedroom with a queen and a bathroom with shower.
Behind the house are the farm's barn and milk house. The milk house is a small building where dairy milk used to be stored. It has since been converted to a fair-weather bunkhouse, perfect for two.
Off the back of the barn, you'll find a small deck with seating and great views of our livestock and nature. You'll enjoy walking the trails, kayaking on French Creek or exploring the local environs during the summer.
And, of course, there's the ongoing Hard Aground horseshoe tournament.
Check out the cross country and downhill skiing or snowshoeing during the winter with Mt. Pleasant Ski Area (skimountpleasant.com) just five minutes away by cae or come leaf peep at the magnificent local autumn foliage.
Relaxation is the order of the day - sip a hot cup of tea by the wood stove, share a bottle of wine on the deck or read a few chapters on the back porch of the barn with lovely views.
Hard Aground Farm is just a short drive from golf courses, craft beer breweries and universities, and just a half an hour from Lake Erie beaches and shopping. Cambridge Springs itself is an fun, quaint little town with antique shops and a great thrift store.
The local history is fascinating and the world renowned Campbell Pottery with a beautiful showroom is located here. There are also several attractions like Chautauqua Institute close by.
