Prana Rainforest Retreat – Gay Manuel Antonio Retreat

Prana Rainforest Retreat

Welcome to Costa Rica’s Prana Rainforest Retreat, a luxurious bali-style villa in Manuel Antonio, made just for you and your partner. Come stay with us and experience expert massage therapy, yoga and exotic gourmet meals.

You can spend your whole day here, if you want, lounging together on your romantic day bed, suspended over a private tropical pool. Practice yoga on the deck by our peaceful waterfall, surrounded by a tropical forest filled with monkeys and toucans.

Our Costa Rica retreat sits on the border of Manuel Antonio National Park, just minutes away from world-famous white sand beaches.

Your hosts Mark and Jon, built the Prana Rainforest Retreat as an extension of their business, Prana Spa, in Key West. We offer our retreat as a bed and breakfast – a full breakfast is served each morning, including items such as:

  • Omelets filled with fresh homemade goat cheese and herbs from our greenhouse, made with eggs from our own chickens
  • Fresh homemade granola and yogurt served with organic fruit from our own trees
  • Almond pancakes topped with maple syrup infused with homegrown ginger and cardamom
  • Fruit smoothies, fresh squeezed juices, and organic Costa Rican coffee.

The retreat’s Guest Villa offers 1,400 square feet of living space, and includes a king-sized bed, large living room, and a step-through “rain shower” room opening up onto the pool deck. You can look up from your shower and see a flock of toucans in the trees above!

Our Manuel Antonio villa is furnished with museum-quality furnishings collected from India, Indonesia and Thailand, and the open air design allows cool jungle breezes to pass through, or if you prefer, you can fully air condition the rooms.

Prana Rainforest Retreat was made for relaxation – lay in a hammock on your private covered deck by the waterfall, read a book on the cushioned Bali Bed suspended over your private pool, have a glass of wine in your living room, or take a nap on your comfortable antique king-sized bed.

Each of these spaces has a wonderful view into the surrounding rainforest, and there are also have trails traversing the property which you can explore while you are here.

The Prana Rainforest Retreat is a wonderful, private getaway which you’ll have all to yourself. It’s also a great base for exploring the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica – head off after breakfast each day to experience the beautiful beaches and adventure excursions that make Manuel Antonio a world-class resort destination.

Montfair Resort Farm – Crozet, Virginia

Montfair Resort Farm

Periodically we’ll feature one of our properties here to let our readers know about some great gay friendly places to stay:

Montfair Resort Farm offers eco-friendly vacation retreat cabins, close to Charlottesville, Virginia and The Blue Ridge Parkway. We’re just fifteen minutes from the town of Crozet, and forty minutes from Monticello, Thomas Jefferson’s magnificent estate.

Come stay with us for a relaxing vacation or great getaway in our restful atmosphere, with fresh, clean mountain air, over a hundred acres of serene woodlands and open fields at the base of Pasture Fence Mountain.

We offer cozy A-frame and cedar timber frame cottages looking over a peaceful, six acre lake – the ideal blend of comfort, simplicity, and natural beauty.

Our cottages are fully air conditioned, and have modern appliances and gas heaters. The kitchens are completely stocked with dishes, silverware, linens & towels, and there’s also organic coffee & tea.

Just outside your front door, you’ll find walking and hiking trails for fishing, hiking, bird watching and biking.

Montfair Resort Farm’s rustic lodge is perfect for weddings, gatherings, reunions, and eco-friendly celebrations. We offer a memorable, magical location for private, relaxed events.

Montfair is also an ideal base for exploring the Charlottesville area, including the University of Virginia, the historic Downtown Mall, Skyline Drive, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and much more. There are also a number of organic farms and wineries close by.

Montfair Resort Farm became a popular camping spot in the 1960’s – guests were drawn by our beautiful, rolling, wooded foothills on what was once a part of the Brown Family plantation called Mount Fair. The Brown family owned more than 10,000 acres in the area.

Now in the middle of a revitalization, we are planning to become a certified eco-lodge. We enjoy refurbishing our buildings from the 1960’s, preserving the noncommercial nature of the landscape, and planting native plant species. We want to provide an eco-friendly lodging alternative and a showcase for the rich natural and cultural heritage of Virginia.

We offer mountain bikes for guest use – take them out on a variety of trails, or enjoy fishing and canoeing on our local lake and ponds.

There’s also great bird watching and other wildlife, including black bear, Blue Heron or busy beaver.

Montfair is pet-friendly – bring your dogs along to wander our fields and wooded trails.

Looking for an eco-friendly Virgina getaway? Come stay with us at Montfair Resort Farm.

Casa Felix – Chio, Canary Islands, Spain

Casa Felix

Periodically we’ll feature one of our properties here to let our readers know about some great gay friendly places to stay:

We are a happy lesbian couple, but we welcome people of all spots, stripes and labels. One of us will most likely always be around, and we are adventurous enough to communicate with you in English, French, German and more. We are able to tell you about anything you want to know about Tenerife: one of the most diverse islands we have ever visited and we have travelled extensively.

Casa Felix is our dream house. The house, which is actually made up of three completely independent apartments, was lovingly remodeled by our predecessors, a charming retired Austrian couple. The moment we walked onto the property it was clear to us that a lot of love and care had gone into creating this small oasis on the Island of Eternal Spring (the nick name for Tenerife).

Before you even enter the house, the garden will blow you away. There are three very mature palm trees which serve as visual anchor points. A collection of various cacti shout out to any visitor: this location is warm all year round! There are various fruit trees (e.g. plum) but our personal favourites are two very healthy lemon trees with copious amounts of phenomenal fruits. And, of course, flowers are always blooming! Much of the ground is covered by flagstones and gravel imported from the local quarry and a groundcover that at first glance may look like a grassy lawn but is actually a thick patchwork of a local, drought resistant groundcover, shorn to look like grass.

The house and the grounds gaze across an expanse of banana plantations and wild shrubbery towards the Costa Adeje. You can admire the Atlantic, sparkling in the not too distant vista distance (15 minutes by car), and the distinct shape of Tenerife’s small sister island, La Gomera, from all the balconies, sun terrace, and much of the garden. Indeed, while visitors to Casa Felix sip their beverage of choice, the sun sets behind La Gomera in the most wondrous of ways and warm days turn into warm nights, with the bright stars sparkling in a black velvet sky to remind poor city dwellers that orange skies are not the norm in nature!

Since you will look at our website there is no need to describe the charms and benefits of our two, fully self-catering apartments. But remember: Casa Felix is a passion of ours. Our aesthetic is crisp, state-of-the-art functionality, and in tune with the natural surroundings, and we are constantly trying to improve the existing comforts and design sensibilities of Casa Felix. Cleanliness is incredibly important to us, and we believe you will appreciate it as well.

We are always interested in hearing suggestions for improving people’s stay. If you have any ideas to make the apartments even more special, please let us know. After all, if you have chosen our place for your vacation, it means we have very similar tastes.

La benvinguda a Felix Casa (Catalan for Welcome to Casa Felix!)!
