Gayfield Square Apartment – Gay B&B in Edinburgh, Scotland

Author: , August 17th, 2016

Gayfield Square Apartment

Periodically we’ll feature one of our properties here to let our readers know about some great gay friendly places to stay:

The beautiful old Merchant’s House apartment is situated in a wonderful Georgian building overlooking Edinburgh’s historic Gayfield Square. The apartment is in fact the whole ground floor of an original house dating back to around 1800, with private front and back garden. It feels like being in a country house as the square is so quiet yet you’re right in the middle of the city- only a 7 minute walk to Princes Street and the main train station (from there an easy walk to the castle and old town). It comprises 2 double bedrooms/2 bathrooms to sleep up to 4 people very comfortably. It’s also a stone’s throw from the fashionable Broughton Street with its great cafe culture and bistros, as well as being close to the Playhouse Theatre and the main downtown shopping area.

The apartment benefits from free wifi internet access and is non- smoking throughout, although there’s ample outdoor space for those in need!

The Drawingroom is a spacious and grand room with double Georgian windows overlooking the private landscaped front garden out to the leafy square beyond. There’s a living flame gas fire and flatscreen TV with digital channels and DVD player.

There are two cosy bedrooms both with Eurpoean king sized bed, firm but soft mattresses and fresh white linen supplied. We also supply towels and welcome toiletries. The main hall leads to a large bathroom with corner bath and shower and the rear bedroom has its own en suite shower room also. We supply radio alarm clocks and hairdryer.

The kitchen is a dream for any budding chef with large central granite island and dining table making it a very sociable place to relax and chat whilst cooking and eating. It’s fully equipped with a five burner range cooker/oven, microwave oven, fridge/freezer, coffee maker, washing machine and tumble dryer. French windows from the kitchen lead to back a private garden/patio area with al fresco dining area and seating.

We can also organise a welcome food hamper on request – no need to run to the corner shop for a pint of milk when you arrive! (Please just ask for a quote depending on size and your preferences)

There’s on street parking just outside the apartment (max 4 hours parking with ticket: Monday- Friday, weekends free) or a short walk from the edge of the parking zone (24 hours free parking- about a 10 minute walk or less), but our best advice is that unless you are doing out of town day trips, DON’T rent a car whilst here- you won’t need it since everything is easily walkable (there are also good car rental options close by for when you are departing the city- just ask!).

Mountainside Cottage – Lesbian Owned Cottage in Alexander, North Carolina

Author: , May 29th, 2016

Mountainside Cottage

Periodically we’ll feature one of our properties here to let our readers know about some great gay friendly places to stay:

Built in 2008, Mountainside Cottage is the perfect place to stay while exploring the wonderful towns of Asheville and Weaverville. The interior is light-filled and sunny, thanks to the many windows and skylights (there’s even a skylight in the shower!). The cottage has central air conditioning for warmer days, as well as ceiling fans for those who prefer a cool breeze.

Even though we’re only about 15-20 minutes from downtown Asheville, our cottage is totally secluded. Once you’re here, you can see no one and no one can see you. Imagine sitting in the hot tub at night with no roof overhead — you can look right up at the stars. And it’s perfect because there are no city lights to spoil the view.

You can either stay in the cottage and enjoy the hot tub and totally relax or use it as a place to come back to after you’ve explored Asheville. We even have a binder that has restaurant menus, information on the Biltmore Estate, the Blue Ridge Parkway, things to do in Asheville, hikes in the area– complete with maps and written directions. We’ve tried to think of everything to take the guess work out of what to do and how to get there. That way you don’t have to spend all your time planning what to do–you can just go do it!

We furnish everything you’ll need for a perfect vacation. Washer/dryer, linens, microwave, toaster, mixer, blender, coffee maker, wine glasses, pots and pans, dishes–there will even be a bottle of champagne in the refrigerator when you arrive! You simply need to bring clothes and food.

Even though we do have an outdoor gas grill at the cottage, there’s a great park a mile-and-a-half away where you can cook out beside the French Broad River (yes, you can even hear the river at night). The Ledges Park is also a place where you can put in to kayak the area or go fly fishing.

And we’re more than happy to accommodate your pets (dogs only, please!). The cottage is totally surrounded by woods, so it’s a great place for your furry friends to run and play. There’s also a dog park/mountain bike trail a mile from the cottage.

Gull River PostCard – Lesbian Vacation Rental in Norland, ON, Canada

Author: , April 16th, 2016

Gull River PostCard

Periodically we’ll feature one of our properties here to let our readers know about some great gay friendly places to stay:

Welcome to the Gull River PostCard, a 3 bedroom waterfront rental with over 1700 square feet of living space and 500 square feet of deck overlooking the scenic Gull River. With one entire wall of windows overlooking the river and the forest beyond, the PostCard is perfect for any season.

Bring your boat! Launch either upstream at the Lutterworth Township Public launch or downstream at the Elliot Falls Public launch. Either way, your boat can dock @ the PostCard, waiting to carry you up river to Moore Lake and East Moore Lake, popular destinations for fishing, swimming, and pleasure boating.

Bring your water toys! The Gull River, with its soft current and beautiful water, welcomes you! Swim, kayak, canoe, paddleboard … all are common uses of this lovely waterway. Kids love the beach area and parents appreciate the shallow “wade in/play in” swim space between the docks. Guest WIFI extends to the waterfront area so you can stream tunes and stay connected while enjoying the sun, water, forest and sky.

Bring your fishing gear! There are terrific bass fishing spots downstream, upstream and in Moore and East Moore Lakes. Moore Lake is regularly stocked with lake trout. A seemingly endless supply of rock bass and other sunfish are easily caught right off the dock. If you are in a boat, check carefully along the east shore of the Gull River for pockets of hard-fighting perch – delightful fun to catch!

Bring your hiking boots, camera, and binoculars! In addition to the lovely woodland surrounding the Gull River PostCard, you are 10 minutes from the Altberg Wildlife Sanctuary and Nature Reserve, Ontario’s largest nature reserve. Just to the north, Queen Elizabeth II Wildlands Provincial Park is a highly rated “backcountry” hiker’s dream, offering some of the most unspoiled wilderness you will ever see in Ontario.

Bring your friends and family! The Gull River PostCard can sleep 6-8 people without using the great room. With the great room, groups of 12 are possible. With three comfortable bedrooms, as well as a pullout couch in the living area, a full kitchen, and a living room that is approximately 35 feet x 17 feet, you will not be wanting for space. Bring the gang that never has time to just hang out together. In the cooler weather, enjoy the cozy fireplace. In the summer, swim, boat, roast some marshmallows, and tell some stories at the outdoor fire pit. Relax and enjoy some “together” time.

Welcome to my home. Located on a quiet cul-de-sac about eight miles north of Disneyland and 12 miles from Huntington Beach (“Surf City USA”), my home is immaculate and beautifully landscaped. The Arts & Crafts-style decor includes original art by Erte, R. C. Gorman, and many of my own photographs taken in Yosemite National Park, Canada, New England, and Scotland. Speaking of Scotland, the primary sleeping room (there are two) is Scottish themed and the downstairs hospitality room is decorated in the style of an Edinburgh pub.
