US Gay Ski Club to Visit Queenstown, New Zealand for Gay Ski Week

New Zealand Gay Ski WeekA contingent of snow sports enthusiasts from the world’s largest glbt ski club is planning a trip down to Queenstown for Gay Ski Week.

Members of Ski Bums, which is based in the US and has more than 750 members in the US, Canada and the UK, will bring their passion for powder to the annual week of snow and parties.

It’s Ski Bums’ first trip to the Southern Hemisphere and Gay Ski Week Event Director Mike Sanford is thrilled. “I’ve been in communication with them for years and out of the blue got a call from the Ski Bums director who said he is organising a group for the event, so this is exciting news,” says Sanford.

New Zealand Gay Ski Week Moved to July

Gay Ski Week New ZealandGay Ski Week is usually held in the adventure capital in September, but a massive influx of tourists is expected in September 2011 due to the Rugby World Cup. Organiser Mike Sanford said the rugby teams probably asked for the September date so they could join in the fun.

“Accommodation in Queenstown during September 2011 will be full of rugby crowds wanting to watch men toss their balls around,” he said.

Gay Ski Week NZ has launched new dates for the event, as for the event to grow the accommodation must be available. The dates for Gay Ski Week NZ 2011 are 23 -31 July. This is the first time Gay Ski Week NZ has moved from its September spot and it has already proven successful.
