Okay, we made this name up, but it’s a thing now. There are so many breathtaking waterfalls in North Georgia, we need to share how you can easily visit as many waterfalls as fit into your travel schedule. We’ll start in the east and head west as we go, but you can plan your adventure however you like.
We stayed in Clarksville, Georgia for our most recent trip around North Georgia. It’s a cute town right at the edge of the Appalachians and is perfect for a homebase for a North Georgia outdoors adventure.
The first of the Georgia waterfall trail that we’re directing you to is Toccoa Falls. About twenty minutes from Clarksville, the town is small, but cute. Toccoa Falls itself is actually located on the campus of an evangelical Christian college, but all are welcome to visit the falls. There is an entry fee for non-students and non-alumni, but it’s only a few dollars and to get to do a nice, short hike and enjoy the falls, it’s worth it.

Apart from the beauty and sophistication of this gentle bungalow is the Savannah night life. Just a 15 minute walk to downtown and you will find yourself among the historic charm and happenings in this lovely coastal city. And, if you prefer not to walk Uber is just $4.50 one way, be sure to tip your driver.
If I had a coin for every time I explained I was traveling to Georgia The Republic of, not the US state I’d be a wealthy man. Admittedly, to many Westerners it’s not high on the bucket list, overshadowed by higher-profile neighbours Turkey and Russia.
But following a invitation from a friend to visit him in his newly-rented apartment in Tbilisi, I felt instantly curious and torn. It’s legal to be gay in Georgia, but the country is so entrenched in Orthodox Christianity that LGBTI people are often victims of abuse and violence.
When it comes to where queer travelers in the West choose to vacation, many of us vote with our wallets, supporting the economies of well-catalogued gay-friendly destinations, such as Sitges or Mykonos. And there’s nothing wrong with that.

A weekend trip to Savannah with girlfriends proved there’s a whole lot to do in this sweet southern belle of a city. Thankfully, the ladies I travel with live by my philosophy and we packed in a lot of fun during our short time together. Leave home as early as possible so you’ll arrive in time to enjoy lunch on River Street in the Historic District. While it may mean dragging yourself out of bed at the crack of stupid, you’ll be thankful to have a full day ahead of you when you land.

Atlanta is a vibrant gay friendly city, home to CNN, their famous peach tea, and lots of beautiful guys and women with those amazing southern accents. It’s a very diverse city, set amongst the rolling hills of Northern Georgia.
