Our first visit was to the Kunstmuseum Basel with its vast collection of historic and modern art. The main building was erected in 1931 and an extension added in April this year; the latter was designed by the renowned Basel-based architecture firm Christ & Gantenbein. We visited a provoking exhibition called Sculpture On The Move 1946-2016, and this gobsmacking building is certainly the place for it; it’s on until 18 September. If you’re interested in the evolution of sculpture from World War 11 to the present, and are a fan of the likes of Alberto Giacometti to Koons, this is the exhibit for you.

I didn’t know Thailand was such a great place for trekking! I found it out when I first touched the Thai soil. In October 2015, on my first trip to Southeast Asia, soon after arriving in beautiful Bangkok, I started organizing a few excursions around Thailand. As I was not sure on how it worked, I asked help to a touristic agency, licensed by the TAT (the official Tourism of Thailand Association).
I followed the recommendations of my tuk tuk driver around Bangkok and he put me in good hands! The agency planned everything for me: flights around Thailand, train tickets for short ways, accommodation, trekking excursions… After, I learned that I could have avoided to book the excursions in advance: once arrived in Chiang Mai, the starting point of most trekking trips, it is easy to arrange a few days of exploration, as there are plenty of agencies willing to help!
I flew into Chiang Mai, the second largest city of Thailand, located in the northern plains. Chiang Mai is a pleasant, 700 years old city, which is a beautiful place to visit on its own. If you have time, I’d suggest you to reserve one full day (or at least one afternoon) of your trip to visit the ancient Buddhist temple of the city.
I had chosen a 3 days (2 nights) trekking excursions: the perfect length to explore the amazing green scenery Thailand has to offer! Luckily enough, I was put in a very nice trekking group, all around my age (or younger): a good bunch of 12 guys and gals! We bonded and we are still in contact!
It’s a bit over ten years since my last visit to Lisbon. That trip was with my ex-boyfriend, his new boyfriend, and another friend who had also once been in a long-term relationship with my ex-boyfriend. It had seemed like a good idea at the time, but obviously it wasn’t.
This trip I was travelling with Liviu. It was his first visit to Lisbon and I was excited to be rediscovering the city.
We had booked an apartment through misterb&b. It was easy enough to navigate our way from the airport, via the fast and efficient metro system to find our apartment on Rua da Oliveira ao Carmo. This turned out to be a great location – central, and within easy walking of everything that we needed.
Getting Our Bearings
Liviu was keen to hit the beach straight away, but this isn’t Barcelona, so I instead persuaded him that a walk around the city was a good way to get our bearings.
Rattling trams and buzzing tuk-tuks are on hand if you can’t quite face the multitude of steps, but if you’ve got the energy this a great city for working up an appetite while walking.

The Homestead at 3218 is a clothing-optional members-only retreat exclusively for gay & bi men located on a private cattle ranch in rural Crawford, Texas, near Waco. Mark Mattlage and Rob Snowden, a gay couple for 36 years and married since February 2014, opened this venue on May 20, 2016.
The first phase of the retreat covers about two acres and features a two-story Pool House containing five fully-furnished rooms with private baths and full kitchens; an 18′ x 36′ heated swimming pool; free onsite parking; and a Rec Center. The latter is where all new and returning members check-in at the Reception Desk each time they visit. The building provides members with a video and game lounge; drink vending machine; clothes lockers; personal items lockers; a steam room; large, open shower room and restroom facilities; a bunk room with six roll away beds and lockers; seven hostel-style sleeping cubicles; and an outdoor patio surrounded by a high-fence. Other retreat amenities include free WiFi and select DIRECTV channels in the suites. The first floor Pool House suites are wheelchair-accessible and accept small dogs 25 lbs. and under.
The retreat’s second phase, scheduled for completion later this year, will encompass an additional three acres accommodating about fifteen RV/travel trailer pad sites with utility connections and a central waste dump station and approximately ten primitive camp sites. It also includes transforming an existing farm tool shed into a bar & grill serving three meals daily.
Mattlage and Snowden started planning their retreat after studying gay get-away venues – both clothing-optional and not – across North America. They decided since nothing quite like their envisioned venue existed in Texas that they’d create it on a portion of the 187-acre ranch they own in the Central Texas area near Waco. This married couple plans to add more member amenities beyond those offered in the first two phases of The Homestead at 3218’s development.
If Florida’s a family of blockbuster travel destinations – with Miami and Orlando as the energetic kids – Fort Lauderdale’s like the cool older brother. Nowadays well known as the pearl of the Ionian Sea, and somehow the capital of Salento Gallipoli was one of the main ports of the so called Magna Graecia: it was a very important due to its strategic position by the sea.
The beautiful city of Gallipoli has seen many different population on its soil: Vandals, Goths, Bizantines, Messapic, Normans, all lived in different periods in this area, but for sure were the Greeks to leave the biggest footprint.
By the way, where the hell is Gallipoli? In Puglia, of course! To be more precise in Salento Gallipoli is located about 30 Kilometers South West of Lecce. It is a pretty big town, featuring an amazing old town, connected through the main street, Corso Roma, to the modern part of the town. Corso Roma is the promenade, where the locals and tourists usually go for an evening stroll (in italian we call it struscio), meet friends for an aperitif, or go for some shopping: it is the main center of the city, where during summer you can find also plenty of buskers entertaining the visitors.
