Best Isle of Man Restaurants – Our Taste for Life

Best Isle of Man Restaurants - Our Taste for Life

Eating out is one of my favourite things to do in the Isle of Man. When I moved here two years ago, I’ll admit, I was slightly concerned about the culinary scene. Coming from London, I have always been spoilt when it comes to the choices on offer. And while I’d only consider myself a moderate foodie, my palette does have relatively high standards.

With this in mind, I had to make it my mission to find all the best Isle of Man restaurants to avoid the dreaded FOMO. Thankfully, this small, unassuming island has surprised me as it continues to do with many things. In fact, I’ve found plenty of gems on the island that would satisfy even the most sophisticated of taste buds.

So let’s get into it; here are my 30 top restaurants on the Isle of Man.

30 Best Isle of Man Restaurants

Douglas is the islands bustling capital, so it makes sense that most IOM restaurants, pubs, and nightlife concentrate in this area. Most people who visit the island stay in Douglas for this reason.

1.  Barbary Coast

Barbary Coast is the island’s answer to Nando’s, TGI Fridays, and Five Guys, all wrapped up into one. Other than McDonald’s, we don’t have any of the UK chain restaurants on the IOM. So naturally, local restaurant entrepreneurs look to create a copycat.

Best Isle of Man Beaches – Our Taste for Life

Best Isle of Man Beaches - Our Taste for Life

You’re never too far from a beach in the Isle of Man. From the popular tourist haunts to the secret little coves, I know them all. And in this article, I’ll be sharing 15 of the best Isle of Man beaches so that you can check them out for yourself.

Finding the Isle of Man Beaches

One of my favourite things about living here is the endless glorious beaches. Rain or shine, a stroll on the beach is my all-time favourite way to clear the head. So there aren’t many days that you won’t find me on one coastal walk or another with our little pup Ronnie.

We are incredibly fortunate when it comes to our local beaches. Compared to other UK beach destinations such as Bournemouth or Cornwall, you could say that the Isle of Man beaches are almost secluded. Even during our busiest months of the year, it’s easy to find a spot all to yourself.

Not only that, most of them are utterly pristine. By that, I mean little to no rubbish and sparkling blue water that invites you to dive in every time you look at it. Not to mention the diverse jaw-dropping surroundings that make each of the Isle of Man beaches unique and exciting.

Beaches in Lesbian Milos, Greece – Our Taste for Life

Lesbian Milos - Our Taste for Life

Milos is a small volcanic island of about 160 square kilometers (61 square miles). As it’s such a small island, you can reach most of these Milos beaches within 15 minutes from Adamantas (where the ferry arrives).

And there are many paved roads on the island! But it’s also good to know there are quite some dirt roads. Especially if you want to go to the southwest side of the island, you need a 4×4 vehicle to do so (ATVs or 2×2 vehicles are not allowed).

Without further ado, enjoy these 21 best beaches in lesbian Milos! At the end of the list, we share an island beaches map, so you know where to find all beaches.

Lesbian Durdle Door, UK – Our Taste for Life

Lesbian Durdle Door, UK - Our Taste for Life

There are many things to do near Durdle Door other than the famous limestone arch, and that’s what I’ll be covering in this blog post. By the end, you’ll have a jam-packed itinerary, whether you’re visiting the Jurassic Coast for a day, a weekend, or even a week.

Durdle Door is one of the most beautiful and iconic spots in all of the UK. A natural limestone arch formed over 10,000 years ago stood perfectly in pristine waters; it’s truly a sight to behold.

It’s no surprise that hundreds of thousands of visitors travel from far and wide to catch a glimpse of the famous archway every year. However, many don’t realise that Durdle Door is just a tiny part of the colossal Jurassic Coast.

Stretching for 95 miles along the South of England, the Jurassic Coast is the UK’s first natural world heritage site. It’s famous for its diverse, rugged coastline and outstanding geology, revealing over 185 million years of Earth’s history.

While there’s no denying that the lesbian Durdle Door area is an unmissable experience, here I’m going to be sharing some other lesser-known sights that are equally worthy of a visit. So whether you’re camping near Durdle Door or staying somewhere else nearby, be sure to save this article for your trip.

Lesbian Chiang Mai, Thailand – Our Taste for Life

Lesbian Chiang Mai, Thailand - Our Taste for Life

Chiang Mai is one of the most liveable cities in Asia, but what is it like for us in lesbian Chiang Mai? We travelled to Chiang Mai to find out and found it to be one of the most gay-friendly cities in Thailand. With an abundant selection of gay and gay-friendly bars, nightclubs, hotels, cafes, and activities, gay Chiang Mai has a lot to offer LGBTQ+ travellers.

Don’t get me wrong, when you compare to gay Bangkok or Phuket, Chiang Mai’s gay scene is relatively tame. However, there is still plenty of fun to be had both during the day and at night. The gay scene aside, Chiang Mai is a cultural city, popular amongst backpackers, digital nomads and LGBTQ+ travellers alike.

What we love most about Chiang Mai is that it has all the perks of being in a city, such as great food, temples, nightlife, markets, cafes, and shops. But in as little as an hour, you can immerse yourself in nature. Escape into the jungle for hiking adventures and elephant sanctuaries, or go ziplining or cliff jumping at a nearby canyon.

It’s impossible not to fall in love with Chiang Mai. And this guide aims to provide you with all the information you need to have an unforgettable time. I’ve listed all of the hottest gay bars and nightclubs; gay-friendly hotels and hostels; the best LGBT+ centred events; as well as all the top things to see and do.

Is Lesbian Chiang Mai Safe for LGBT+ Travellers?

In short, absolutely yes! Thailand, in general, is one of the most gay-friendly countries we’ve ever visited. Here’s a statement from the Go Thai Be Free website:

“In Thailand, we believe that diversity is amazing. As the most LGBTQ+ welcoming country in Asia, we’re proud that the lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans community – and all people – no matter how they identify; and whom they love; feel free when travelling in Thailand on vacation or holiday.”
