Things Are Hot in Gay Provincetown

Author: , August 27th, 2014

Not one, not two, but three things out of gay Provincetown on the wires this week.

First off, Joe.My.God has a great video from Ptown’s Carnival Week:

Not to be outdone, Gay Star News has photos of the event:

The summer Pride season has left millions of us with photos to share and happy memories to treasure. And the team from the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) are no different. They were proud to join in Provincetown’s Carnival Pride Parade in Massachusetts, USA last week (21 August). As the theme was Comicbook Capers, IFAW staff dressed as Justice League superheroes alongside their dolphin-decorated emergency response vehicle.

And finally, alerts us to some stunning new drone videos of Ptown, taken by Videographer David Cox:

Provincetown by Drone

Videographer David Cox brought his DJI Phantom Vision drone to Provincetown, Massachusetts to document some of the resort town’s many appealing features including the Cape Cod National Seashore, the picturesque harbor, the Pilgrim Monument, the bustling tea dance, as well as last week’s costumed Comic Book Carnival Parade (see our photo gallery HERE), much of it from a great height and in glorious HD.

Sitges Pride is More Fun Than Yours

Author: , August 6th, 2014

Sitges Gay PrideIf you’ve ever been to Barcelona you may have heard of Sitges, the gay-friendly beach town less than an hour away.

The city’s seafront promenade, art deco architecture and nightlife make it a popular tourist spot, and its annual Pride event looks raucous enough to challenge even the rowdiest American Pride.

Someone at the Sitges tourist board has done their homework and made a Sitges Pride promotional video touting the event’s fifth anniversary that’s chock-full of cute guys, poolside steaminess, pop music, flashy drag-queens, and fishbowl booze. The event’s stage show also has imitations of Michael Jackson, Cher and the Black-Eyed Peas.

Exploring Venice by Riva

Author: , January 26th, 2014

Carlos Melia in CeniceIf there is a perfect way to explore and discover Venice, is by having your own private riva. This is an experience I enjoy very much, and try to do as long as it is available (have done this in the past in Paris along the Seine, Bath, UK on Narrowboats, Bangkok, Thailand along the Chao Praya River on luxury rice barges, in Varanasi for the Ganga Arti, Istanbul along the Bosphorus, Riviera Nayarit, Mexico to the Islas Marietas… among many others worldwide.

It gives you a different perspective, and without a doubt the Riva is indeed unique and sophisticated experience. As you can see I am a big fan of boats and specially private ones.

From the moment we arrived to Venice Train Station, we were transferred from Venezia Santa Lucia to our hotel, the iconic Cipriani by Orient-Express. Sailing Venice on a Riva, even when using the water taxis, it is itself an experience that nobody should miss, regardless your budget.

There are many alternative options. We spent over 2 nights at the Cipriani, located on the calm and seclusion of Giudecca Island. This meant that every morning, afternoon and evening we would take our riva from the piers at the hotel to their own private dock at Piazza San Marco. Exclusive, romantic and charming.

Another lovely experience I had, was on my last day in Venice, this time staying at The Gritti Palace. After breakfast, I took a private riva, this time to the Rialto Bridge, to have lunch at the fabulous new AMAN Grand Canal.

Sailing along the Grand Canal, passing by the Gondolas, Vaporettos, under the bridges…. just magical.

What can I say, this are my kind of adventures, and I strongly recommend you try them too.

Author: , August 8th, 2013

Purple Party - DallasThis past spring, I spent a few days hanging out with Bryan Kosarek,’s 2013 “travel guru” as he checked out the Purple Party — and the rest of Dallas gay life, for that matter.

Well, Bryan has now posted his video detailing his experience here. It’s always interesting to see your city portrayed by an outsider.
