Safe Open Air Bear Event Created In Puerto Vallarta

Puerto Vallarta local event producers Christian Serrano & Dhaniel Amarillas have created a fun and frisky weekend in gay Puerto Vallarta known as “Bearadise®”. Dedicated to the creation of unique and memorable experiences, they successfully created an event aimed exclusively for the gay male market, specifically the bear community, friends and admirers.

When the COVID pandemic turned our gay travel world upside down, they were faced with the challenge of resetting and reclaiming this concept in order to fall in line with our new normal. “As a sustainable and socially responsible labor of love, we were forced to take inventory of the Bearadise® brand and determine how to evolve in a safe way during this time of ‘physical distancing’ and ‘safe socializing’ with the wellbeing of our guests as the #1 priority,” Serrano muses. Our solution? Bearadise® Beach! A full day, all-inclusive tour open air-experience designed for Bears, by Bears, but all men are welcome!”

One of the world’s smaller but more specific Pride celebrations came to Orlando, Florida, over the weekend. Big Boy Pride is the premier hangout for big guys of color each year.

Big Boy Pride is a party weekend organized by the Big Brothas Network – a social and networking not-for-profit organization aimed at ‘Urban debonair big men of color in the LGBT community and those who admire them.’

Co-organizers Tony Brown and Jay Torrence arranged the first Big Boy Pride in spring 2011. The men have continued to welcome big guys from around the US (and beyond). This year’s event ran 12-15 April at the Parliament House resort.

The theme? ‘A Deeper Love.’

Bears in Sitges

Sitges Bears Week Easily the biggest gathering of bears in Europe, the annual Bears Week in Sitges drew to a close yesterday after ten days (2-11 September) of furry frolics on the Spanish coast. Sitges Bears Week attracts over 5,000 gay guys during the course of its festivities, and – if anything – is becoming too busy for some return visitors. Hotels and guesthouses get pre-booked months in advance. The majority of visitors are from Europe, but a US bears cruise began docking at the town last year and returned again this year, boosting the US contingent.

Viceland Goes to Bear Week in Provincetown

Bear Week in Provincetown We’ve spent a lot of time at Bear Week in Provincetown so it is amusing to see a new VICELAND (Vice’s new TV channel) segment on the annual rendezvous. Calling it “a world of many contrasts,” reporter Thomas Morton (the hairless twink in the shot above) headed to Bear Week to dig down into the world of bear culture, find out about the lingo, and check out just what goes on in the pool at the Provincetown Inn. Says Morton: “The term bear once referred to a very specific type of gay man, particularly a big and hairy gay man. Over time bears have evolved into an entire family of gay men of various body types and hairinesses…”
