Take the Georgia Coast Road Trip – 2TravelDads

Take the Georgia Coast Road Trip - 2TravelDads

Have you ever done a Georgia Coast road trip? No?! Well now’s your chance and you will love it! A road trip along the Georgia shore is rather surprising, as it’s not a big long beach like doing a California seaside trip or a Florida Gulf Coast trip. But it’s awesome!

A lot of people ask us about living in the South and how to get the best of both beaches and history. Making the drive from FL to GA is the perfect way to get the full experience. Departing by car from Atlanta is an option too, but that’s a bit more complicated. Here’s the scoop though for having an incredible coastal Georgia road trip including Tybee Island, Savannah and the Golden Isles.

Getting to the Georgia Coast Road Trip Start

If you’re not familiar with the map of the East Coast, you may think that Atlanta is super close to the beach, but it’s not. Savannah actually isn’t even a beachfront city, but it’s pretty close. So, how do you get to the beaches? While heading to the coast is one of the best drives from Atlanta, it’s not the best way to get to Savannah.

Best Things to Do at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge - 2TravelDads

Visiting Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

I have always loved Star Wars so getting to visit Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disney World and in Disneyland has been awesome. Visiting Galaxy’s Edge with kids is also incredible. These are our favorite things to do and see in “Star Wars Land” in Hollywood Studios and Disneyland Park. And if you want, you can even stay in Star Wars themed accommodations to add to the overall experience.

Even if you’re not a huge fan, visiting Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is awesome. Every turn sparks nostalgia, and with the ever-expanding collection of Star Wars feature films and series that Disney has been making, the galaxy just keeps expanding and the stories are getting better and better! Keep reading to see all the things to do and what you’ll fall in love with at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. And don’t forget to check out all the hidden gems of Galaxy’s Edge too!

There are two places where you can find Batuu, aka Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. At Walt Disney World “Star Wars land” is found in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, at the edge of Toy Story Land and near the Grand Ave / Muppets area. In Disneyland, it’s located just beyond Frontierland and Critter Country.

Visiting Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is included with your park ticket, so as long as you have entrance to Hollywood Studios or Disneyland Park, you’ve got all you need to access Galaxy’s Edge. Many people think the Star Wars lands are their own parks, but they are not.

Visiting Cabrillo National Monument – 2TravelDads

Cabrillo National Monument - 2TravelDads

San Diego, California is such a popular west coast destination. We all love to head to SoCal for the nearly guaranteed sunshine and beaches where you can actually swim. And the coastal vibe is so different, with bare feet everywhere and flowers blooming on the bluffs year round. Cabrillo National Monument is a great place to experience that great SoCal feeling.

Cabrillo National Monument is part of the National Parks system and it’s perfectly located for an awesome afternoon during a San Diego visit. Planning a day out at Cabrillo includes everything from lighthouses to tide pools, picnics to National Park Passport stamps. Yep, our family has favorite activities and Southern California is the perfect spot to do all of them!

Where is Cabrillo National Monument

A lot of people visiting San Diego are going to be playing tourist in the Gaslamp District or being fancy and lounging on Coronado Island, but there’s so much more to San Diego. The beach neighborhoods are awesome! Starting at the north is La Jolla (it’s own city) with its cove full of seals, then working the way down is Hermosa and the bluffs, and then it’s the beaches!

Gay Savannah with Kids – 2TravelDads

Gay Savannah with Kids - 2TravelDads

There are a few places in the USA that captured our hearts from day 1, and Savannah, Georgia is one of them. There are lots of things to do in Savannah that are free or inexpensive, and so many beautiful sights that you’ll fall in love with the city too. It’s extremely walkable, and being in the Southeast, has pretty awesome weather year-round.

So what should you plan for things to do in gay Savannah with kids? Plan on enjoying history and architecture, plan on walking a fair amount, and of course, plan on having some wonderful food. And walktails (aka roadies). Savannah is going to wow you, so get ready for an awesome visit!

Gay Savannah With Kids – How to Get There

Savannah is located in Coastal Georgia, a land known for its dreamy live oaks and river deltas. Because it’s surrounded by so many beautiful sights and interesting places, my top pick for how to get to Savannah is to make it a road trip. Two hours south of Savannah is Jacksonville, Florida; two Hours north is Charleston, South Carolina; and three hours and 45 minutes west is Atlanta, Georgia.

A great way to visit Savannah is to do a Coastal Georgia road trip and spend time down at St Simons Island and Jekyll Island. The Golden Isles region is only an hour and a half south of Savannah so pairing them together is a great vacation plan.

Bavarian Leavenworth – 2TravelDads

Bavarian Leavenworth

Even though Leavenworth may not be a legit Bavarian settlement, the German culture paired with the Swiss influences and everything else alpine make it a wonderful getaway to feel like you’re in another world. This are the best Bavarian activities in Leavenworth to get into the spirit and have a great trip to Washington’s favorite small town.

If you’re not too interested in the Bavarian/German fun that’s available, there are plenty of other great things to do in Leavenworth to enjoy on your getaway to Eastern Washington. Where it’s summer or winter, you’ll have a great trip!

Why is Bavarian Leavenworth So Fascinating

I love telling the story of Leavenworth, Washington because it’s remarkable. A logging boom town in Eastern Washington, the town started to fail and its economy crumbled as the timber industry changed and moved away from the area. Not wanting Leavenworth to turn into another ghost town like so many others in Washington had, the town polled their resources and hired a marketing firm to help them out.

Best Things to Do in Lake Chelan – 2TravelDads

Best Things to Do in Lake Chelan - 2TravelDads

Lake Chelan is decidedly the most family friendly wine destination in Washington. I’ve decided this after visiting Woodinville, Yakima, the Olympic Peninsula and the Tri-Cities. There are lots of things to do here that aren’t wine related, and plenty to keep you having fun or relaxing in any season.

Very near Leavenworth, Washington, this recreation area is a great weekend trip or you can spend a whole week exploring the lake, hills and canyons around the area. It’s also great for hiking and seeing a completely different side of Washington State. This is the place where playing in the outdoors meets enjoying agritourism in the sunshine.

Best Things To Do at Lake Chelan

Okay, you ready for a great collection of things to do in any season? Having visited in summer, fall, and winter, I’m confident you’ll be able to create a really fun, interesting trip the whole family can enjoy. Hiking Pinnacles National Park in California – 2TravelDads

Hiking Pinnacles National Park - 2TravelDads

Most of the Parks we go to are fairly well-known. I mean, there are only 63 of them, so most are familiar to the masses, but Pinnacles is fairly new so isn’t wildly popular yet. We love to return to Glacier and Olympic and such because we’re so familiar and there is so much to do and see. Hiking Pinnacles National Park exceeded our expectations, so we’re sharing everything you need to know to plan a visit and see what we mean!

If you haven’t heard of Pinnacles, it’s because it’s one of the newest additions to the National Parks. Formerly a National Monument and jointly managed by the NPS and Forest Service, the area was converted to a Park in 2013 giving it more, different funding and programs, and also bringing it to the forefront of many hikers’ and travelers’ minds. Huzzah for the upgrade!

Hiking Pinnacles National Park – Where Is It?

Pinnacles is located between San Francisco and Los Angeles off Highway 101. It’s not exactly sitting on the side of the road so you do need to actually plan for some time in the Park and make sure that you have ample supplies for your jaunt (see below). You can easily add it to a California Coast road trip or make it the start or end of a Central Coast road trip.

Located in the mountains between Soledad and San Benito, California, it borders farm country and the high desert. While it may look out of the way on a map, it’s is only about 1.5 hours from San Jose, or 2 hours from San Francisco.
