It’s Gay Days At The Magic Kingdom!

Author: , June 25th, 2013

Every year on the first Saturday in June, thousands of LGBT people and their supporters arrive at Disney’s The Magic Kingdom in their red shirts for Gay Days. The idea behind wearing red shirts is to be seen out and proud at the world’s most popular theme park. So once again Traveline Out & About decided to attend this incredible event.Disney Castle

With so much to see and so much to do at The Magic Kingdom it’s a good idea to plan on spending a full day there. The park does get crowded on this day but it’s very manageable. If you use a bit of planing with your fast pass, most of your waiting time in lines should be reasonable.

This year the new Fantasy Land opened, with exception of the Seven Dwarf’s Mine Train roller coaster (due to be completed in 2014). Because of it’s recent opening to the public, this was one of the more congested sections of the park. I will say that Disney did their magic yet again with an amazing job in creating and designing the parks largest expansion! The new Under the Sea- Journey of The Little Mermaid ride is another great addition to Disney’s variety of family rides. If time is on your side, I would recommend the first time you ride to skip the Fast Pass and experience the entertaining and beautiful line cue complete with waterfalls and lagoons, moving crab holograms, and a talking Skuttle the Sea Gaul.FantasyLand

The new Be Our Guest Restaurant was open with a high demand. Lunch is counter service so no reservations are needed but expect a long line to enter. Dinner, however, is a sit down service and it is highly recommended to make reservations. Reservations can be accepted up to 180 days in advance and should be placed then. Guests can visit to make any Disney dining reservations.

At 3pm everyone who is wearing a red shirt is encouraged to gather together in front of Cinderella’s Castle to watch the Main Street Parade. It is quite a sight to watch this sea of red shirts come together for this afternoon gathering.

At the end of your day be sure to stick around for the Main Street Electrical Parade followed by fireworks over Cinderella’s Castle. I was fortunate enough to have dinner reservations for later in the evening so afterwards I was able to sit on the front porch of the restaurant and watch the parade.

With the beautiful firework show over and the evening has come to an end, I was overcome by a sense of amazement at what I had accomplished in a single day, all of the sights and rides I had experienced, and all of the love and support for the LGBT community that I had witnessed. It was yet another successful Gay Days weekend here in Orlando, FL.

Trip to Toronto

Author: , September 7th, 2012

Here at Traveline Out & About we like to share our travels with our followers. We recently visited Toronto, ON and discovered what a great city it is for gay Americans to visit. We are welcomed in this city like nowhere else! From the bellhop at the hotel, to the doorman at the bar. Everyone is open and accepting of the gay lifestyle. Here are some helpful tips on what you can expect.

Walking up and down Church Street, Toronto’s gay hub of activity, you will notice several boutique shops and adult themed stores. Feel free to pop in and browse for whatever tickles your fancy.

Boutique Bar, serving delectable martinis and spirits with a double deck hanging over Church Street, provides some fabulous boy watching and a great social environment. Across the street is Flash, a dance/ strip club by night and a bingo hall by day. Get your Bingo cards with a drink purchase and have a chance to win $300 and a spa gift certificate. This member’s only club is open to the general public. You can enjoy a relaxing lunch at John’s Bar and Grill or across the street at O’Gradys, both having suitable patios for some delectable cruising.

Remington’s, located outside of the village, is Toronto’s only legal all nude male strip club. Both men and women can be tantalized by an assortment of men displaying their goods. Want to show one of the performers your appreciation? Trade in a Canadian ten dollar bill for US single dollar bills in return for easier tipping (amount varies on the current exchange rate).

Toronto also has some amazing theaters for live performances. Stop by the Ed Mirvish Theatre, formerly the Canon Theatre, to see what shows are playing during your visit.

Looking for an escape from the city? Hop on the Hanlan’s Ferry for a quick float over to Hanlan’s Point. This beautiful part of Toronto’s Island is the home of the only clothing optional beach on the east side of Canada. Both men and women gather to soak in the sun while in the buff. The unofficial gay section of the beach can naturally be found at the furthest point of the beach. Snack stands and washrooms are located near the beach for the visitor’s convenience.

Best of all, everything is within walking distance from several hotels located near Church Street. Park the car and walk to your desired destinations. Want to travel outside of the village? Public transportation is abundant with taxis, electric street cars, busses, and an efficient subway system.

Visiting Toronto, ON will not be a disappointment for the gay traveler. Contact Traveline Out & About and let us get you there!  Visit us at for further information.

Gay Days in Orlando 2012

Author: , June 20th, 2012

We recently had the opportunity to visit Orlando, FL for the Gay Days event. Gay Days is a week long event leading up to Saturday, which is the big day, at Disney’s Magic Kingdom. This week attracts over 100,000 gay people from all over and is the first Saturday in the month of June.  During the week, different gay bars around the city host event parties to get things going. The Parliament House is a great example. They bring in famous DJ’s and Drag Queens from around the country to perform. This year they even brought in stars like Chaka Khan, Mia, and Sonique. The host hotel is sold out to mostly Gay Days attendees and has afternoon and evening pool parties for both men and women, and there is even a trade show where guests can purchase some fabulous merchandise.

Perhaps the biggest and most sought after party of the week is Riptide, held Friday night at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon.  This private event is attended by a sold out crowd of nearly 6,000 gay boys, and some girls, dancing and drinking the night away in some really tight swimwear. Most of the parks attractions are open and heavily used by the partying guests. Drink stations are planted heavily throughout the park for easy access and purchase your favorite adult beverage.  The main stage and giant video screen were placed on the beach of Disney’s largest wave pool so guests can dance to the latest hits with the sand between their toes and Go Go boys gyrating on the stage for everyone to enjoy.

Finally the big day has arrived. It’s Saturday and Disney’s Magic Kingdom is starting to fill with a sea of red. Those attending the park that which to stand out as being there for the Gay Days event wear a red shirt to show their support.  Every ride, every food or merchandise stand was infected with red shirts. It’s a beautiful sight to see. Main Street is lined with red shirts for the three o’clock parade. As the day ends and night time begins we all again try and gather in front of Cinderella’s Castle for the night time firework show. It truly is the best way to end a magical day.

Sunday is the last day of the event and those who have not worn themselves out yet attend Epcot. There are still those who wear their red shirts and most others wear their rainbow mickey head pins that they bought at the park the day before.  It seems that most of the guys head for the rides in the morning and then after lunch they just go where the booze is. Drinking your way around the world at Epcot with new friends is a nice way to end your magical week in Orlando for Gay Days.
