Kasawan Falls in the Philippines – The Globetrotter Guys

Kawasan Falls - The Globetrotter Guys

The Philippines are incredible and one of our favourite places that we have travelled to in South East Asia. The Philippines has some of the most beautiful beaches, islands, crystal clear waters and also some of the best adventure activities. One of our favourite adventure activities during our time in the Philippines was going to Kawasan Falls and canyoneering in Cebu. It is a must!

Here is everything you need to know about Kawasan Falls and canyoneering in Cebu (specifically Badian).

About Kawasan Falls, Cebu

Kawasan Falls are considered to be the most famous and one of the most beautiful sets of waterfalls in the Philippines.

Kawasan Falls can be found on the island of Cebu, 130km southwest of Cebu City in the mountains of Badian. People are drawn here by the vibrant turquoise waters, the lush jungle and the chance to have an adventure, including of course, canyoneering Kawasan Falls!

Most people will do a day trip to Kawasan Falls to spend the morning canyoneering and the afternoon relaxing by the falls. You even have the option of jumping on-board a bamboo raft and floating under the falls themselves!

Gay Thailand Like a Local – The Globetrotter Guys

Gay Thailand Like a Local - The Globetrotter Guys

We have been to Thailand many times and have had nothing but great experiences. Thailand has so much to offer from the crazy capital city of Bangkok, to the jungles of Chiang Mai and the idyllic beaches you will find on the islands in the south, including the island of Koh Phangan, where the world famous Full Moon Party is held every month.

Like most countries, we know we are in a privileged position as a tourist so we wanted to interview an LGBT local to get a more in depth insight as to what it’s really like to be LGBT in Thailand. We got in contact with Bud who was willing to share his experience, read more below:

Hi Bud! Please introduce yourself to our readers.

Hi! My name is Bud Jungsaitakul. I am a middle aged gay professional and a world traveler from Thailand. I work as a senior operations manager at a large multinational company. I am a Thai National, MBA graduate and I live in Bangkok.

Thanks, so tell us, what is the stereotypical view of a local from Thailand towards someone who is LGBT (either local or tourist – is there a difference)?

Thailand is generally very tolerant towards the LGBT community and is probably the most gay friendly country in Asia.

The LGBT community has been visible in Thai culture for a very long time. Stereotypical views towards gay men in particular is that they are mostly feminine and camp.

The Parthenon – Keep Calm and Wander

The Parthenon - Keep Calm and Wander

I have seen the Parthenon in history books, TV documentaries and in gazillion postcards. I’ve also read about it in guidebooks and classical literature. Never have I ever thought that one day, I’ll be seeing it and standing on Acropolis where once the gods and goddesses of Greek mythology believed to have resided. No visitors in Athens would miss this enduring icon that withstood the weathering of time.

The Parthenon, however, isn’t mythical. It is a realm on its own merit. Nothing much has been left there to see but the archaeological ruins show a powerful civilization that spread its influence beyond lands and oceans.

The Parthenon is on the hills of Acropolis where Athens got its name. It had been said that the city was founded by a half-snake, half-human creature – Cecrops. In fact, the city’s first name was Cecropia, named after the legendary leader who turned the city into an important trading center.

Ethiopia in Pictures – Once Upon a Journey

Ethiopia - Flamingoes - Once Upon a Journey

Three weeks, zero wifi connection, a lot of stunning landscapes, extreme highs (literally and figuratively) and lows and captivating cultural experiences: our Ethiopia trip was everything. From the capital, Addis Ababa, we travel south and to see thousands of flamingos in Abijatta-Shalla National Park, the Oromia Region.

After that, we fly to Gonder and travel to Debark to start our Simien Mountains trekking! The “Roof of Africa” lies in the Ethiopian Highlands. Our trekking takes us up to an altitude of 3900 meters above sea level.

We see the famous gelada baboons and sleep in tents under incredible starry night skies. We relax at Tim & Kim village at Lake Tana and we experience Ethiopian Christmas – Gena – in Gonder. Let us take you on a visual journey, this is our Ethiopia gallery!

Vacation Like a Kardashian – Out With Ryan

Punta Mita - Out With Ryan

I’m going to be honest… the first time I heard of “Punta Mita” was from the Kim Kardashian smartphone game. That’s right, the popular app where you pretended to be in Kim Kardashian’s world back in the Summer of 2014.

What I didn’t realize is that not only does Kim Kardashian actually vacation in this private peninsula situated in the Riviera Nayarit Mexico region, but Punta Mita can also be very affordable for couples, who aren’t millionaires.

You can pay a fortune to stay at the same resort The Kardashians often vacation, which is Casa Aramara, or you can relax more affordable and still share the same waters, sand and sunshine as Kim Kardashian!

I’m sorry but who doesn’t like the idea of relaxing in lush tropical paradise, similar to the ones Kim Kardashian has, but on a more affordable budget… I KNOW I DO!

Key West Gay Bars - The Nomadic Boys

Key West is a gay island mecca at the southern tip of Florida, famous for its relaxed, friendly and Bohemian atmosphere.

We loved it here so much that we stayed here for a large chunk of our road trip in Florida. There are so many things to do in Key West for gay travellers, along with a terrific gay scene. The majority of the gay bars and clubs of Key West are located in the same spot along the busy Duval Street, between Angela and Petronia Streets. There is a permanent Rainbow Crosswalk here so you can’t miss it!

This is our gay guide to the best gay bars in Key West, along with dancing venues, drag show bars, beaches, events and best things to do. For accommodation options, be sure to check out our guide to the best gay resorts in Key West.

These are the main gay bars in Key West to check out, including popular weekly parties:

801 Bourbon Bar: 801 is a large building standing proud next to the Rainbow Crosswalk. The bar is downstairs and upstairs is the club (see more below). Packing for a Gay Cruise – The Globetrotter Guys

gay cruise

You might think that packing for a gay cruise is like packing for any other cruise, however, it’s quite different indeed!

Our first cruise experience was with Celebrity Cruises and although this was not a ‘gay cruise’, it was very gay friendly and you can read more about it here. We loved the experience and as a result booked ourselves on to an Atlantis gay cruise to the Caribbean for the following year!

However, for our first Atlantis gay cruise our packing list is significantly different. Having talked to many avid Atlantis cruisers, there are many items to pack that we had never thought about in the slightest! Take a look at our list ‘What to pack for a gay cruise’ below and see if you agree.
