Traveling in Our Fabulous World: Newport, Rhode Island

Wow! What an elegant place Newport, Rhode Island is! With it’s “summer mansions” that are large enough to play a football game in. Newport is really a city on Aquidneck Island. Although the population is under 30,000, it is a thriving city. It was founded in 1639. Newport has one of the highest concentrations of colonial homes in the nation, in the downtown Newport Historic District, one of three National Landmark Districts in the city. Many of these homes were restored in the late 20th century through grants made by Newport resident Doris Duke.

Facing Your Fears in Costa Rica

Fear often surfaces in the most commonplace situations as well as exotic locales. Fear may take the form of spiders and snakes. It may appear in a darkened alleyway or high atop the pyramids. Perhaps it can occur deep within the recesses of this computer? Whereas I’m not afraid of heights, I have often been afraid of situations when I just happen to be up high; for instance, flying. How do those things stay up in the air, anyway? Yes, I heard about aerodynamics, but, come on, seriously?

If Virginia is for lovers, there’s no other spot in the Commonwealth more romantic than Williamsburg! This quaint town takes you out of the bustle of your everyday routine to a time when the politics were exciting, but the living was simple. Strolling through Williamsburg’s historic area, with its endless variety of fenced gardens (all open to the public),and the clean lines of Southern Virginia architecture, you can easily slip into a mode of separation from reality.

Pattaya, Thailand's Gay Scene

Pattaya, Thailand has a vibrant Gay scene with many gay bars and clubs to suit all tastes. Sunee Plaza is a laid back, friendly and not so expensive venue. It Has Go-Go bars, beer bars with handsome waiters, clubs with some of the sexiest dancers you have ever seen. All are approachable and are happy to have a drink with you and if they like you will go out partying with you. It is not unusual to see older and younger in the same company enjoying themselves at discos.
