Brighton Pride: Voters to Decide This Year’s Theme

Author: , April 11th, 2012

Brighton Gay Pride Theme 2012Brighton and Hove locals are to be asked to choose the theme of the city’s 2012 Pride event. Following a local call for suggestions, the two themes chosen for the run-off are The United Colours of Pride and Triumphs and Tragedies for the event, which will take place on 1 September.

The United Colours of Pride is an international theme focusing on the rainbow flag emblem. It will raise awareness of countries where gay and transgender people face widespread discrimination. Organisers say the theme would lend political impact without detracting from the carnival atmosphere and colour of the Parade.

United Colours of Pride was suggested by Helen Jones, director at MindOut LGBT mental health project in Community Base in Brighton.
