If Straights Were Treated Like Gays on Vacation

Author: , October 12th, 2017

straight couple

It’s a world many could not fathom, one where straight couples are questioned, harassed, and discriminated against while trying to relax together on vacation. That reality is one that all too many gay couples face, a new study from Virgin Holidays shows.

One of its depressing findings: Only five percent of LGBTQ couples feel comfortable showing affection while on holiday, compared to 84 percent of straight couples. Two thirds of LGBTQ couples reported not even feeling comfortable with a simple action like applying sunscreen to their partner’s back. A third experienced judgment and ridicule, like being stared at, laughed at, or verbally abused. One in ten reported being threatened with physical violence.

Virgin partnered with ATTN to show what it would be like if the situation were reversed, and straight couples experienced the same type of treatment. If it looks funny or unfair to see straight couples treated this way, perhaps it will help drive the message home that no one should have to deal with this kind of behavior, whether they are on vacation or not.

Nomadic Boys – Our Philippines Travel Video

Nomadic Boys

The Philippines was a dream! We spent a month in this beautiful country in May/June 2015 and absolutely fell in love with it. The Philippines has some of the most incredible underwater life we’ve experienced, which makes scuba diving and snorkeling a dream. We particularly enjoyed snorkelling and kayaking around El Nido on Palawan Island.

Flower Island near El Nido was our romantic island escape with some amazing snorkelling. For a country made up of over 7,000 islands, it’s not difficult to find your own island romantic getaway.

Palawan island is also home to the Underground River near Puerto Princesa. It is said to be the longest navigable underground river in the world and was voted as one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature by a global poll in 2012.

Nomadic BoysWe spent a month travelling in Vietnam during April and May 2015.

We started in the South in motorbike crazy Ho Chi Minh City (still called Saigon by locals). We discovered a few gay bars in Saigon with our friend Quan.

We then headed to Central Vietnam to Hoi An, Hue and Da Nang. In Hoi An we immersed ourselves in the yummy food with a cooking class and a foodie tour with the excellent Vespa Adventures. We learnt to make delicious Cau Lao noodles and yummy Banh Xeo pancakes.

Nomadic Boys

In February 2015 we returned to Thailand’s islands after our first visit there 3 years ago. We started in Koh Tao where we did our advanced scuba diving course then spent over a week soaking up the beautiful beach of Koh Lipe.

Snorkelling was another underwater activity we loved and Koh Lipe and Koh Adang were particularly great spots for our underwater Finding Nemo shots.

Finally we visited the remove desert island of Koh Tarutao where we did kayaking, cycling and trekking.

Myanmar - Nomadic BoysOur Myanmar travel video includes some of our favourite moments of our travels around Mandalay, Bagan, trekking from Kalaw to Inle Lake and finally in Yangon.

The temples of Bagan were one of the highlights as was learning about the thanaka – the Burmese face mask.

We had a lot of fun learning about Burmese food in Mandalay at Yoe Yoe Lay Guesthouse and eating our way through all the delicious street food in Yangon.

Things Are Hot in Gay Provincetown

Author: , August 27th, 2014

Not one, not two, but three things out of gay Provincetown on the wires this week.

First off, Joe.My.God has a great video from Ptown’s Carnival Week:

Not to be outdone, Gay Star News has photos of the event:

Provincetown_pride_IFAW_1

The summer Pride season has left millions of us with photos to share and happy memories to treasure. And the team from the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) are no different. They were proud to join in Provincetown’s Carnival Pride Parade in Massachusetts, USA last week (21 August). As the theme was Comicbook Capers, IFAW staff dressed as Justice League superheroes alongside their dolphin-decorated emergency response vehicle.

And finally, Towleroad.com alerts us to some stunning new drone videos of Ptown, taken by Videographer David Cox:

Provincetown by Drone

Videographer David Cox brought his DJI Phantom Vision drone to Provincetown, Massachusetts to document some of the resort town’s many appealing features including the Cape Cod National Seashore, the picturesque harbor, the Pilgrim Monument, the bustling tea dance, as well as last week’s costumed Comic Book Carnival Parade (see our photo gallery HERE), much of it from a great height and in glorious HD.

Enjoy!
