Visiting the Tucson Museum of Art

Author: , January 15th, 2015

Mark and I were in Tucson, Arizona over the holidays, and ended up going with my mom to the Tucson Museum of Art. It’s on the edge of downtoan, and has some great ongoing and visiting shows.

For the next month or so, you can catch “The Figure Examined” – a collection of studies of the human figure owned by the Kasser Mochary Art Foundation, which includes works by Picasso, Cassatt, Rodin, Renoir, Rivera, Matisse, Degas, Warhol, and many more. It’s an amazing collection – and you can take photos! A lot of the art is homoerotic. 🙂

Also at the museum right now – Southwest Anthems – some amazing art of the southwest; Shadow Play – a selection of pieces chosen for the interplay of light and shadow; and The WPA Collection – works from the Works Progress Administration that provided jobs to thousands during and after the great depression. There’s also a great selection of Mexican folk art.

But don’t take my word for it – let the art speak for itself.
