Scurlock Farms – Vacation Rental Villa in Georgetown, Texas

Scurlock Farms

Periodically we’ll feature one of our properties here to let our readers know about some great gay friendly places to stay:

Scurlock Farms is a beautiful 172 acre working farm in the Texas Hill Country. The Palette Pad was built as the art studio for well-known Texas landscape artist C.P. Montague, one of President Lyndon Johnson’s favorites. Rocky Overlook was built by her husband as their dream home.

The homes are unique as every rock in the two homes was picked up from the San Gabriel River that forms the Northern one mile border of the farm, then hand-laid by the couple. Many rock masons have admired their work.

Rocky Overlook is a 2500 sq ft home with two large king master suites, two baths and a wonderful fireplace. The large fully stocked kitchen overlooks the large terraced patios and the ravine to the river bottom. Guests enjoy the large upper patio with seating for 17, large smoker, charcoal grill and fire pit. Washer and dryer.

The Palette Pad is a 500 sq ft home and guests have loved the feeling of the outdoors coming in through the walls of floor-to-ceiling windows. Fully stocked kitchen and beautiful outdoor seating area overlooking the bluff with charcoal grill, fire pit and rockers.

The third home, Indian Bluff, is 1/2 mile down the drive and it has a king master suite, two queen bedrooms and two baths. There is a covered patio with table and chairs, charcoal grill and a great fire pit area. Washer and dryer for your convenience. Families with children love the garage with air hockey, fooseball, basketball hoop, futon, dining set, and toy box.

All homes have plenty of luxury linens, basic spices, soaps, shampoo, hair dryers, toilet paper, paper towels, garbage bags, and firewood is also provided. All homes have central air/heat.

If you love the outdoors, you will love Scurlock Farms! There are miles of hiking areas, one mile of river to enjoy. The tubing and kayaking were great this summer and the fishing is great (we even have a fishing guide that can give you lessons and provide all the equipment and bait if you would like). Hike up the spring-fed creek and see hundreds of fossils in the limestone banks or all along the limestone riverbank.

Many a photographer has delighted in getting great shots while visiting. Wildlife abounds and the birding is great. 2/3 of all birds found in Texas are found in Williamson County.

Backpacks and picnic baskets are in each home. Pack a lunch and enjoy it on the river banks or in the picnic area down below. A charcoal grill, fire ring and picnic table are there for your enjoyment.

Scurlock Farms is ideally situated for those that want to do a lot of day trips. Austin is 30 minutes away, Salado 25 minutes, Waco 70 minutes, and Georgetown only 10 minutes. Enjoy your days out, then come “home” to the farm and enjoy your favorite beverage as you watch the sun set.

Riverside Villa – Gay Friendly Belize Vacation Rental

Author: , June 12th, 2016

Riverside Villa

Periodically we’ll feature one of our properties here to let our readers know about some great gay friendly places to stay:

Riverside Villa provides the ultimate serene, secluded and romantic setting in Belize. It is located on the fast flowing banks of the Privassion which flows through the Mountain Pine Ridge, a largely undeveloped forest reserve in the Cayo District of western Belize. It’s a truly unusual location on the banks of a gorgeous river where the Mountain Pine Ridge and the jungle meet. Although the villa is privately owned it is managed by the caring and LGBT friendly staff of the adjacent Gaia Riverlodge. Guests can take their meals at the lodge’s restaurant overlooking Five Sisters waterfall (where breakfast is included in the rate). A full kitchen is also provided if you wish to enjoy your meals at the villa. At your request Gaia will deliver your meals to you at Riverside villa.

Riverside Villa consists of two log and thatch cabanas connected by an open air deck with a full dining table. The cheerful sleeping cabana which holds the bedroom and bathroom is warmly furnished with a bamboo bed and Mayan fabrics and wall hangings. The full bath contains a fancifully tiled bathtub and beautiful hardwood furnishings. A screened in porch at one end of the bedroom has a hammock as well as two chairs. It is nestled into the trees and overlooks the garden with the river just beyond.

The larger cabana contains a fully equipped kitchen, dining area, writing desk and a small library. It is surrounded on four sides with fully screened porches arranged into relaxed and comfortable living spaces. Hammocks and seating areas are situated to take advantage of the tropical gardens as well as the entrancing views of the river. All furnishings are locally made by Belizean craftsman. Colorful Mayan rugs, fabrics and wall hangings complete the cozy ambiance of the interior.

We have recently installed a hot tub at the villa which has a fabulous view or the river. Far away from light pollution you will enjoy incredibly starry skies on clear nights. It is also the perfect place to enjoy a morning cup of coffee as the mist rises off the river. Our hot tub contains no chemicals. Guests fill it from the hot and cold water faucet to their preferred temperature. Because our water comes from a spring high up on the property we have tons of water pressure and so it fills up quickly.

We have great swimming holes directly in front of the villa. After a cool dip enjoy relaxing in the thatch covered palapa next to river with two hammocks and a picnic table.

Additional Guest Accommodations – Riverside Villa was designed as a spacious one bedroom home. Over the years we have had many requests from guests interested in traveling with a third or fourth party. Recent additions and upgrades have made this possible. Please see out website for details.

The Cayo location is adventure central Belize. Our website also describes tours in the area. transportation and many other details about your visit. Hope to see you soon!

Gull River PostCard – Lesbian Vacation Rental in Norland, ON, Canada

Author: , April 16th, 2016

Gull River PostCard

Periodically we’ll feature one of our properties here to let our readers know about some great gay friendly places to stay:

Welcome to the Gull River PostCard, a 3 bedroom waterfront rental with over 1700 square feet of living space and 500 square feet of deck overlooking the scenic Gull River. With one entire wall of windows overlooking the river and the forest beyond, the PostCard is perfect for any season.

Bring your boat! Launch either upstream at the Lutterworth Township Public launch or downstream at the Elliot Falls Public launch. Either way, your boat can dock @ the PostCard, waiting to carry you up river to Moore Lake and East Moore Lake, popular destinations for fishing, swimming, and pleasure boating.

Bring your water toys! The Gull River, with its soft current and beautiful water, welcomes you! Swim, kayak, canoe, paddleboard … all are common uses of this lovely waterway. Kids love the beach area and parents appreciate the shallow “wade in/play in” swim space between the docks. Guest WIFI extends to the waterfront area so you can stream tunes and stay connected while enjoying the sun, water, forest and sky.

Bring your fishing gear! There are terrific bass fishing spots downstream, upstream and in Moore and East Moore Lakes. Moore Lake is regularly stocked with lake trout. A seemingly endless supply of rock bass and other sunfish are easily caught right off the dock. If you are in a boat, check carefully along the east shore of the Gull River for pockets of hard-fighting perch – delightful fun to catch!

Bring your hiking boots, camera, and binoculars! In addition to the lovely woodland surrounding the Gull River PostCard, you are 10 minutes from the Altberg Wildlife Sanctuary and Nature Reserve, Ontario’s largest nature reserve. Just to the north, Queen Elizabeth II Wildlands Provincial Park is a highly rated “backcountry” hiker’s dream, offering some of the most unspoiled wilderness you will ever see in Ontario.

Bring your friends and family! The Gull River PostCard can sleep 6-8 people without using the great room. With the great room, groups of 12 are possible. With three comfortable bedrooms, as well as a pullout couch in the living area, a full kitchen, and a living room that is approximately 35 feet x 17 feet, you will not be wanting for space. Bring the gang that never has time to just hang out together. In the cooler weather, enjoy the cozy fireplace. In the summer, swim, boat, roast some marshmallows, and tell some stories at the outdoor fire pit. Relax and enjoy some “together” time.
