Mont Tremblant Dog Sledding

Author: , February 8th, 2014

Carlos Melia Dogsledding in Mont TremblantYes, if I have a weakness, that it is for animals in general and particularly dogs, elephants and dolphins. Therefore every time that I travel, and I am proposed to do some activities outdoors in nature with animals I am game.

This time, during my 4 days visit to Mont Tremblant in Quebec, Canada, I spent a whole afternoon dog sledding with huskies and malamutes. What better company right.!!! 1PM sharply I was at Mont Tremblant Station, to be picked up and taken to the heart of the Laurentian forest. Whether it’s your first time or you are an expert, come and drive your own dog sledding team for ten kilometres thru the amazing wilderness (fields which are used for golfing during the summer season.)

For this experience I chose Expedition Wolf. You will be in the company of experienced and qualified guides. You will be living a unique life experience. During the entire ride, you will be in direct contact with the dogs. Guests are invited to interact with the dogs pre/post dog sledding. You will find the dogs to be extremely friendly and engaging.

I would like to highlight that Expedition Wolf is member of the Eco-tourist Adventure Quebec, as well as in union with the SPCA and Anima Quebec. Wolf Expedition wants to be the role model in the dog sledding world. You can feel the love and respect among handlers and dogs.

Your role during the experience: You participate in the harnessing of the dogs + Guests bring the dogs to their sleds + The guides will be giving you a course on how to drive your own sleds as well as the instructions of the rules and regulations of Wolf Expedition… and off you go on your own sled for a beautiful drive with stunning views. You are invited to drive your own sled, and a team of guides will be accompanying the group.

The activity lasts two and a half hours and is offered in the mornings as well as in the afternoons, seven days a week. Half way through, you will be invited to a little log in the middle of the forest, to enjoy hot chocolate and classic Canadian Maple Cream Cookies. This was my second time doing Dog Sledding, first at the Arctic Circle on my way to the ICE Hotel, and now in Mont Tremblant…. wonder where we’ll be next.

Patrick Bermand Restaurant, Mont Tremblant, Quebec

Author: , February 5th, 2014

Patrick Bermand Restaurant - Mont Tremblant - carlos meliaFreshness, Quality and Simplicity define the concept of this lovely restaurant. How amazing when you expect to be hosted at a pompous stiff and rigid gourmet experience (I mean nothing wrong with that) but instead you are welcomed into the restaurant by the Chef and owner himself, and he shares a whole evening with, telling you his transition from his homeland France and his training at renown Michelin stared restaurant, to his beautiful humble traditional homemade cuisine with extraordinaire technique and a lot of heart and soul.

The greatest pleasures in life are simple: being surrounded by people you love and enjoying a good meal! At Patrick Bermand’s you’re more than just a client, you’re the guest of honour of a remarkable host. Thank you Monsieur Patrick Bermand for such a lovely gourmet experience, for your simplicity and camaraderie.

Must try restaurant in Mont Tremblant, Quebec, Canada. From Escargot to the most amazing Foie Gras I have tried ever, Gravlax and an incredible Red Snapper en Croute paired with a Cotes du Rhone. (Nothing can go wrong when drinking a French Cotes du Rhone right.)

Born in the magnificent Pyrenees region of France, Patrick Bermand moved to Quebec in 1978. He studied at the Ecole hoteliere de Mazamet and began his professional training at the Chateau d’Artigny and at Charles Barrier’s Michelin 3-star restaurant in Tours.

He perfected his skills at Umberto’s in Vancouver and Thursdays in Montreal. This experience led him to Mont Tremblant, where as associate and co-owner he played a major role in the success of the Le Shack and Auberge Sauvignon restaurants.

Now him and his staff, delight locals, regular visitors and international celebrities with his Freshness, Quality and Simplicity. Located only 10 minutes away from Mont Tremblant Station and Hotel Quintessence, allowing you to see and experience downtown Mont Tremblant.
