Camp-Run-A-Muck

Periodically we’ll feature one of our properties here to let our readers know about some great gay friendly places to stay:

Nestled in the foothills surrounding Historical Nevada City (in California’s Gold Rush Region), we invite you to come join us at Camp-Run-A-Muck to relax, refresh and recharge your body and senses; and to escape your normal routine or daily grind.

An easy drive from the Bay Area, or Northern California, Camp Run A Muck is as nice and more charming than Lake Tahoe, but without the crowds, traffic and the noise.

The property is situated just an easy stroll from one of the Sierra Nevadas’ private, hidden lakes (3 1/2 miles long X 1 mile wide), Camp-Run-A-Muck is a Tahoe Style A-Frame cabin comprising 4 Bedrooms and 2 Bathroom located on an uphill cul-de-sac surrounded by mature evergreens (some of which actually grow through our expansive sunset deck).

We can comfortably accommodate up to 13 guests at a time in standard Queen sized beds or comfy sleeper sofas. Premium 560 thread count sheets and resort quality plush towels are standard.

For those that are still tied to the world, we offer full connectivity via Wi-Fi and telephone. Or, as the alternative, it’s a great place to “unplug” and re-acquaint your self to nature and tranquility. Ordinarily, the only sound one hears here is the wind through the trees.

Dining room table is expandable to 10+ people at a time. Breakfast bar with 3 extra seats compliments dining room for more casual dining. Steps away through 2 sliding glass doors is our patio (or sunset) deck with 3 tables and 10 chairs for a more alfresco experience or the perfect place for morning coffee or the cocktail hour. All electric kitchen with all the bells and whistles, full dinnerware, eating utensils, condiments and service items round out our kitchen decor. All that you need is your food and beverage choices.

After dinner or drinks, our guests can luxuriate in our 4 – 6 person jetted hot tub with ambient lighting for after dark. No streetlights in the area means stars shine brightly through our canopy of tall trees surrounding the property.

Located an easy drive from the Bay Area or Northern California, and a short 10 minutes from the Hwy (49) and Downtown Nevada City. We have almost everything that will truly make your stay with us memorable and inviting.

Your hosts have been in the travel and guest services industries for the past 30+ years and have tried to replicate what we personally enjoy and expect in our travels and experience to replicate those attributes for the guests at Camp-Run-A-Muck.

So, we invite you to experience what a stay at our “little place in the woods” can do for you.

Please contact us for a unforgettable getaway at Camp-Run-A-Muck.

Mountainside Cottage – Lesbian Owned Cottage in Alexander, North Carolina

Mountainside Cottage

Periodically we’ll feature one of our properties here to let our readers know about some great gay friendly places to stay:

Built in 2008, Mountainside Cottage is the perfect place to stay while exploring the wonderful towns of Asheville and Weaverville. The interior is light-filled and sunny, thanks to the many windows and skylights (there’s even a skylight in the shower!). The cottage has central air conditioning for warmer days, as well as ceiling fans for those who prefer a cool breeze.

Even though we’re only about 15-20 minutes from downtown Asheville, our cottage is totally secluded. Once you’re here, you can see no one and no one can see you. Imagine sitting in the hot tub at night with no roof overhead — you can look right up at the stars. And it’s perfect because there are no city lights to spoil the view.

You can either stay in the cottage and enjoy the hot tub and totally relax or use it as a place to come back to after you’ve explored Asheville. We even have a binder that has restaurant menus, information on the Biltmore Estate, the Blue Ridge Parkway, things to do in Asheville, hikes in the area– complete with maps and written directions. We’ve tried to think of everything to take the guess work out of what to do and how to get there. That way you don’t have to spend all your time planning what to do–you can just go do it!

We furnish everything you’ll need for a perfect vacation. Washer/dryer, linens, microwave, toaster, mixer, blender, coffee maker, wine glasses, pots and pans, dishes–there will even be a bottle of champagne in the refrigerator when you arrive! You simply need to bring clothes and food.

Even though we do have an outdoor gas grill at the cottage, there’s a great park a mile-and-a-half away where you can cook out beside the French Broad River (yes, you can even hear the river at night). The Ledges Park is also a place where you can put in to kayak the area or go fly fishing.

And we’re more than happy to accommodate your pets (dogs only, please!). The cottage is totally surrounded by woods, so it’s a great place for your furry friends to run and play. There’s also a dog park/mountain bike trail a mile from the cottage.

Planning a Girlfriend Getaway

Author: , November 11th, 2014

SuitcaseFeeling the need to get away with your BFF’s? No kids. No significant others. Admit it, there’s nothing better than late night pajama and wine parties with your girlfriends. But where to go? Beach or city, boutique hotel or all-inclusive resort? Spa retreat, culinary getaway or a weekend jam-packed with retail therapy?

Have no fear, girlfriend. We’ve compiled a no-nonsense step-by-step guide to planning your next girlfriend getaway. Follow these steps and you’ll soon be setting off on a vacation that’s designed to give you more time exploring, kibitzing and making memories.

Choose Tour Friends

Who you travel with can make or break the success of your getaway – there’s no grey area here. Some of your friends will plan every detail in advance, while others feel anything more than flight and hotel reservations is excessive. In the end, a girlfriend getaway is about being together as friends, but flexibility and a good sense of humor are good pre-screeners when choosing travel buddies.

Talk Budget

Once you’ve chosen your getaway chums, clarify your collective and individual budgets. This won’t be an easy discussion but being honest about money now will reduce a lot of tension later. Will you travel according to star ratings or the best online deal you can find? You might see your group size diminish, but it may open an opportunity for someone else to join.
