Praia do Rosa, the only bay in Brazil to be recognized as one of the 38 “Most Beautiful Bays in the World”, is famous for its perfect waves, laid-back atmosphere, rustic-chic guesthouses and great restaurants. Thanks to the half-moon shape of the bay of Rosa, it is considered a “Disneyland” for surfers- you will always find great surfing there, no matter the direction of the winds or swells. The Red Chair’s story started on Cape Cod in the spring of 2012. This lucky chair has surfed the waves off Nantucket, explored the cranberry bogs of Chatham, enjoyed the view from Nobska Light in Falmouth, watched the grist mill turn at Stony Brook in Brewster and the sun set over Menemsha. The chair has traveled all over New England, from Maine to Rhode Island all on the kindness of America’s friendly B&B’s. At each stop, the Red Chair is introduced to all that is memorable and beautiful about the local area, with a B&B owner as the chair’s concierge.

Marco Fabry Scott MarkTRAVELING IN OUR FABULOUS GAY WORLD: Traveling With Friends
by Don and Ray
Traveling with friends can either make a friendship better or in some cases, can completely ruin a friendship. We had some neighbors who had never traveled with anyone before. They had some good friends that they would get together with for dinner and cocktails usually once a month for the past 10 or so years. They seemed to enjoy many of the same things in life. Then one day they decided to take a two week trip to Ireland together. From day 3, they got so that they were not even talking with each other and needless to say, it ruined the complete trip for both couples. And now they do not even speak to each other.

Dolly GoolsbyA Great Evening with Travel Friends
by Dolly Goolsby
It will be four months before I get to return to Italy, so to stave off some of the January doldrums, I decided to have a dinner party here at my house, and invited the guests to help prepare part of their dinner. I invited fellow travel lovers…specifically people who had traveled with me before, on a Dolly Travels tour, people who are going to be traveling with me this year, and next year, and people like me, who just love to travel and talk about travel. Since Italy is my primary destination, I felt it appropriate to make an Italian dinner. Some of the guests arrived in the afternoon and we made gnocchi..those nice little puffy Italian dumplings. When we had the little gnocchi all cut and ready to cook, they needed to rest a bit, so that we could socialize.

PURIMISRAEL: Purim Carnival in Gay Tel Aviv
by Tami Bibring
One of the most fun, happy, colorful times in Israel is when Purim carnival is on; it’s when the only Mitzvah (command) is to be happy, joyful, and drunk. The origins of Purim are commenced way back, in ancient times, at the great Persian Empire, when Haman the evil (The Persian King’s secretary) had a master plan of annihilating the entire Jewish people living in the Persian Empire. He held a lot, (in Hebrew- PUR- therefore the name of the holiday) in which was decided that this mass murder shall happen in 13 of Nissan (Jewish month). Luckily, the vicious plan was thwarted by Mordechai and Esther the braves, turning Ester to the queen of Persia. Ever since, on each 13 of Nissan (according to the Jewish calendar, that’s why each year the dates are different, but it’s always somewhere around March).

It gives you a different perspective, and without a doubt the Riva is indeed unique and sophisticated experience. As you can see I am a big fan of boats and specially private ones.

USA, OREGON: Birdwatching in the Mt Hood Region of Oregon

This Oregon Innkeeper is in New Mexico visiting our daughter. We are enjoying the many birds visiting her bird feeders and thinking about the birds back home. March brings the southward movement of many migratory land birds and as an avid birder I wanted to share the many birding opportunities that can be found in Oregon. The Oregon Cascade Birding Trail (OCBT) is a self-guided tour highlighting nearly 200 prime birding destinations designed to showcase the region’s birds and spectacular scenery. This blog will focus on the Mt Hood Loop of the Oregon Cascade Birding Trail. Let’s get settled first before we begin our birding adventure. Lewis’ Woodpecker in New MexicoThe Mt. Hood Loop of the OCBT rises from the Columbia River to Mt. Hood, the highest point in Oregon, and combines some of the best of the region’s birding with legendary Oregon scenery.
