Author: , July 15th, 2013

Out ChicagoLooks like it’s a go for the second Out hotel, this one in Chicago. Go pride reports:

Plans for The OUT Chicago, a new “straight-friendly” boutique hotel proposed for the 3300 block of Halsted in Boystown, are moving forward after the Northalsted Business Alliance voted in favor of the project Thurs., July 11. The decision is a victory for Ian Reisner of Parkview Developers, founder of the The Out NYC, who has been trying to address neighborhood concerns since he first proposed the project in April. “The North Halsted Business Alliance voted in favor of The Out Chicago hotel project after reviewing their modified hotel plans that addressed many of the neighborhood and community issues,” Reisner told “Mainly [by] reducing the height of the building and shifting the massing of hotel to the corner of Buckingham and Halsted, with an iconic cantilever design that should be an architectural attraction for Lakeview.”

Love the blend of old and new. Wonder when they plan to open?

Chicago’s Out Hotel Redesigned

Author: , July 4th, 2013

Out Hotel ChicagoDevelopers of the proposed OUT Chicago Urban Resort listened to neighbors, went back to the drawing board and released new plans Monday for a completely redesigned hotel.

Ian Reisner, managing partner of Parkview Developers and founder of The OUT NYC, now plans to build a 8-story hotel in the heart of Boystown at 3343 N. Halsted St. Designed to be “straight friendly,” the resort would cater to the LGBT community.

Two more stories have been slashed – the original plan called for a 12-story hotel, the balconies have been eliminated and the bright white facade are just a few things changed in the new design renderings to be presented tonight.

Author: , April 11th, 2013

Out Chicago PlansThe folks whobrought us the OutNYC hotel in downtown New York City are working on plans for a second Out hotel, this one in Chicago. GoPride reports:

The developers behind The Out NYC hope to bring their “straight-friendly” boutique hotel to the Windy City, specifically to the 3300 North block of Halsted Street in Boystown. Although rumors of The Out Chicago have circulated for over a year now, confirmation that the plan is moving forward came Friday when Triangle Neighbors vice president John Becvar posted an announcement of the proposal on the neighborhood association’s Facebook page.

There’s a community meeting planned for tonight on the project:

Thursday’s meeting, which is open to the public, is set for 7 p.m. in the Community Room of the 19th District Police Station, located at 850 W Addison between Fremont and Reta. While no final decisions are expected, the meeting will give the developers a chance to release details to the public, garner community support and start the process to bring the luxury brand to Chicago.
