Atlantic City, New Jersey Offers a Gay Old Time

Gay Atlantic CityGayTravel.com, an online travel magazine geared toward the GLBT community has recently named Atlantic City as one of the “Top Five Up and coming Gay Destinations.”

Coming in at number two on the list, the city has developed a variety of new offerings for the GLBT visitor, from new nightlife spots, to musical theater and chart-topping entertainment.

Atlantic City, New Jersey: Up and Coming in Gay Travel

Atlantic City has been recognized as one of the “Top Five Up and Coming Gay Destinations” by GayTravel.com, an online travel magazine dedicated to the LGLBT tourist. AC came in at number two on the list. Advocates say the city is blossoming as a destination for gay and lesbian travelers because of a variety of new nightlife, musical theatre debuts and chart-topping entertainment.

Visitors interested in the party scene can head to Atlantic City’s first gay casino nightclub, Prohibition, a 1920s-styled nightclub recently opened on the 13th floor in Resorts Casino Hotel, or the Westside Bar and Lounge on N. Arkansas Ave. (just behind the Convention Center), a popular club known for its world-renowned DJs, drink specials and dancers. Additionally, Ram’s Head Inn, off U.S. Route 30 in nearby Galloway Township transforms into a low-key piano bar every Monday evening with Out at the Inn, featuring live music, drink specials and performances.

A number of shows have recently debuted in Atlantic City including “42nd Street,” the story of an aspiring chorus girl and her journey to stardom, and “Believe – Diva’s In A Man’s World,” the “don’t miss” drag show of the year featuring famous celebrity impersonators such as Cher, Lady GaGa and Tina Turner, both running at Resorts Casino Hotel. Just a short stroll down the Boardwalk, Tropicana Casino and Resort is hosting “Best of Broadway,” a musical celebration featuring excerpts from Broadways most popular shows.

NJ: Atlantic City Casino Hires Gay Marketing Outreach Director

Joel Ballesteros, Resorts Casino HotelFrom gay bingo nights at the Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort to “Out in Atlantic City” events at the Caesars Entertainment Corp. properties, Atlantic City is building a reputation as a gay-friendly tourist town.

The new owner of Resorts Casino Hotel has taken it to another level by hiring the gaming industry’s first marketing director devoted strictly to the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community, or LGBT for short.

Resorts’ appointment of Joel Ballesteros as director of alternative lifestyle marketing could be followed by something that would amp up the gay-party scene even more — the first gay nightclub at an Atlantic City casino.
