Old Mystic Inn – Old Mystic Gay Bed & Breakfast

Old Mystic Inn - Old Mystic Gay Bed & Breakfast

Periodically we’ll feature one of our properties here to let our readers know about some great gay friendly places to stay:

Come visit us at the Old Mystic B&B, a historic Old Mystic gay bed & breakfast and colonial home built in 1784 by John Denison which once housed the Old Mystic Book Shop. Our red house is in Connecticut’s quiet village of Old Mystic, across the street from the General Store and Post Office.

Old Mystic is full of history, and has been visited by General George Washington, President Abraham Lincoln, and Daniel Webster.

Our charming Old Mystic inn house was completely renovated in 1987, and the Carriage House was built in 1988 with eight nicely appointed guestrooms named after New England authors; Mark Twain, Louisa May Alcott and Robert Frost, to name a few.

Each guestroom has a queen sized bed, a private bathroom and romantic fireplace. The main house is furnished with antiques and reproductions, original hardwood floors, and five original working fireplaces. In the main house, you’ll also find the Keeping Room, where guests can gather around the warm fireplace in the winter, watch tv, play a board game or enjoy a sing along around the piano. The main house is decorated with braided and needlepoint rugs, stenciled walls, chair rails, original detailed and iron latched doors and reproduced wax candle sconces.

The Henry Wadsworth Longfellow Dining Room is adjacent to the Keeping Room. Each morning, we serve a full hearty gourmet breakfast prepared by chef and owner Michael Cardillo, Jr. Breakfast is served by the fire in the dining room, lit by candles in the winter and by sunshine through a bay window in the summertime. Our guests also have access to the kitchen for complimentary sodas, water, coffee, tea and cocoa, along with a freshly baked goods under a glass domed cake dish.

The Old Mystic B&B is surrounded by magnificent heritage oak trees, picket fences, perennial gardens, a hammock to relax and unwind or to read a good book, and even a gazebo where guests can enjoy a glass of wine and relax.

Our Carriage House accommodations, built as a modern Victorian home, are just steps away from the main house. Each of the Carriage House guestrooms has its own entrance, queen size canopy beds, private bathrooms, gas fireplaces, and berber carpeting. Two rooms even have a standard size whirlpool tub for a little relaxation and romance!

So come and relax and unwind at the Old Mystic Bed & Breakfast, where you’ll be treated to true New England Hospitality!
