City Sundays: Santa Fe

peppers Hey all, Welcome to our weekly series on the blog and our Facebook travel groups – City Sundays. Each week we’ll select a different LGBT friendly city to talk about, and we’ll invite our innkeeper and travel agent/tour operator friends to come talk with us about it as well. Santa Fe is a quintessential Southwestern city. As the oldest state capital in the country, it’s steeped in history, both of the Native American peoples who lived in the area first and the Mexican and American settlers who followed. It’s comfortable even in the middle of the summer, and has its own (delicious) cuisine. Have you ever been? What did you do while you were there? Do you wanna go? Let’s chat! City Sundays: Florence

city-sundays-florence Hey all, Welcome to our weekly series on the blog and our Facebook travel groups – City Sundays. Each week we’ll select a different LGBT friendly city to talk about, and we’ll invite our innkeeper and travel agent/tour operator friends to come talk with us about it as well. Florence is truly a world-class city. It’s extremely walkable, and it’s the cultural heart of Italy. There are so many great museums here, and one of the finest pieces of art celebrating the male form – David by Michelangelo – is here as well. Seeing David is almost a religious experience. It’s hard to explain, but seeing this statue that we have all seen in pictures a thousand times is nothing short of stunning. Florence is also a world-class food capital, with some amazing restaurants. And it’s a great base for exploring Tuscany. Have you ever been? What did you do while you were there? Do you wanna go? City Sundays: Sacramento

sacramento gay men's chorus Hey all, Welcome to our weekly series on the blog and our Facebook travel groups – City Sundays. Each week we’ll select a different LGBT friendly city to talk about, and we’ll invite our innkeeper and travel agent/tour operator friends to come talk with us about it as well. Today I thought I’d throw my own current hometown out there. To anyone who’s not from here, Sacramento seems like a bit of a snoozer. It’s been called a cow town, and is known mostly for being the Capital of California. Up until a few years ago, the city mostly shut down on weekends and when the legislature was out of session. We moved here in 2003, and since that time we’ve seen a sea change in the city. Midtown has grown into a hotbed of great restaurants, art, and culture. The new Kings Arena is spurring a ton of new construction projects aimed at bringing more multifamily housing projects to town. The city has a thriving theatre scene, and the farm to fork movement is particularly robust here, with more than a few world class restaurants. And the LGBTIQ scene is hopping too. We just got our rainbow crosswalks late last year in lavender heights, the gay district. And there’s a great gay men’s chorus (above) I love the city so much, I’m even writing a story about it. City Sundays: Rome

city-sundays-rome Hey all, Welcome to our weekly series on the blog and our Facebook travel groups – City Sundays. Each week we’ll select a different LGBT friendly city to talk about, and we’ll invite our innkeeper and travel agent/tour operator friends to come talk with us about it as well. Rome is one of our most favorite cities in all the world. The people there are very friendly, and it’s one of the most walkable cities, too – just get out on foot and explore. There’s something new (or something really really old) around every corner. Rome even has its own gay district, though it’s small by most standards – right in front of the Colosseum. There are many adventures within easy distance by train or car, including the ruins of Ostia Antica, where you can actually walk inside the old structures of what used to be Rome’s port city.
