Should You Visit Cabo or Cancun? – 2TravelDads

Cabo or Cancun - 2TravelDads

Quite often people ask us if we prefer Cancun over Cabo San Lucas. That’s a tough question and depending on what the goal is with a Mexico vacation, we might answer with either one. We’re going to help you decide if a trip to Cabo or Cancun is the better option for you and your family.

I think you will see that the two areas are extremely different and in many ways are not comparable. But since people ask us, clearly there is either some confusion or people just want to take a trip to tropical Mexico and don’t understand their options. You can decide for yourself after this which you would prefer.

Cabo or Cancun for your Mexican Vacation?

When you compare Cancun and Cabo San Lucas you will find that both have tons of both small independent and major resort hotels, there are lots of beaches, and both tend to be popular spring break destinations. But truly they have more that is different than the same. In both Cabo San Lucas and Cancun you will find tourism and hospitality that is catered to Americans looking for a cheap Mexican vacation, but then you will also find five star resort experiences and fine dining that exemplifies the best of Mexican cuisine.

Inside Palacio de Bella Artes, you will find the grandest arts in Mexico City, or perhaps, the whole country. Its lavishly-ornamented facade combines Neo-classical and Art Noveau.

Murals and paintings that were created by Mexico’s finest artists like Jose Clemente Orozco, Diego Rivera, and more are the most visible here.

From the outside, you’ll never find a building as beautiful as this all over Mexico. Its iconic colored dome has graced thousands of tourism promotion brochures, books, and travel blogs.

You can’t just look at it from outside and admire its marbled facade. You’ve got to go inside and discover the beauty that’s hiding there!

Mexico City’s Metropolitan Cathedral – Keep Calm and Wander

Mexico City's Metropolitan Cathedral - Keep Calm and Wander

Mexico City’s Metropolitan Cathedral is the oldest and largest cathedral in Latin America. Located right at the heart of the city, the church is an imposing structure that demands your attention.

For visitors, it’s just another tourist attraction, but for the locals, it is a symbol and soul of their faith. It’s also the seat of the Archdiocese of Mexico. Its complete name is Catedral Metropolitana de la Asuncion de la Santisima Virgen Maria a los cielos. That’s a mouthful, right?

In English, it is translated as Metropolitan Cathedral of the Assumption of the Most Blessed Virgin Mary into Heaven. Even in English, that is still a mouthful to say.

Vacationing In Cabo for Gay Families – 2TravelDads

Cabo for Gay Families -2TravelDads

We’ve been to Cabo San Lucas with our kids load of times, like, we’ve spent the equivalent of three months there as a family. You could say it’s our favorite family destination in Mexico. Since we’ve done it so much, we’ve decided it’s time we share our best tips for visiting this beachside resort town with kids.

I’ll say this right away, Cabo with kids is mostly about relaxation and swimming vs digging into Mexican culture and nature. There are lots of opportunities for that, but Cabo for gay families is more about a luxury destination than adventure.

How to Get to Cabo San Lucas

For those traveling from the west coast, getting there is pretty easy. There are direct flights from Seattle, San Francisco, Sacramento, Phoenix, Los Angeles and San Diego. Denver and Dallas also offer direct flights, so know that even east coasters should be able to find a good flight. When flying in, the airport is SJD (San Jose del Cabo), Los Cabos International Airport.

The airport is actually quite nice now (thanks Hurricane O’dele) and as long as you arrive early in the day or in the early evening, customs is pretty fast and smooth.

Gay Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – wolfyy

gay Puerto Vallarta

Mexico’s classic gay travel destination, Puerto Vallarta lures the LGBT community with ritzy beach clubs, budget-friendly hotels and animated gay nightlife. This small city is a frequent choice for Americans and Canadians, especially in winter.

Before visiting Puerto Vallarta, I never fully understood what specifically makes this destination so attractive to gay men. Gay friends and acquaintances of mine always raved about Puerto Vallarta. I quickly found out why.

Puerto Vallarta is so popular because the city is quite conducive to groups of gay travelers. The gay scene here is physically compact. This makes things super easy for friends to coordinate plans.

gay area in Puerto Vallarta

The Puerto Vallarta Gay Area

The Puerto Vallarta gay area starts in Zona Romántica and continues southward to the border of the Amapas neighborhood. Most of the gay-friendly establishments and nightlife is within the five or so city blocks from the waterfront.

I highly recommend staying in the Puerto Vallarta gay area. It’s convenient and you’ll never run out of things to do. Furthermore, meeting up with friends should be easier here since there are so many hotel and resort options in close proximity. You’ll have tons of options for restaurants, shopping, and beach clubs, all within a 5-minute walk.

There’s much more to know about gay PV, so continue to wolfyy’s Puerto Vallarta gay guide to find the best hotels, resorts, experiences, and gay nightlife venues. Plus, local travel tips!

Please use this article as confirmation that Jeffrey Sanker of White Party PV did not charter the ship that sank December 31, 2020 in Puerto Vallarta. Safe Open Air Bear Event Created In Puerto Vallarta

Puerto Vallarta local event producers Christian Serrano & Dhaniel Amarillas have created a fun and frisky weekend in gay Puerto Vallarta known as “Bearadise®”. Dedicated to the creation of unique and memorable experiences, they successfully created an event aimed exclusively for the gay male market, specifically the bear community, friends and admirers.

When the COVID pandemic turned our gay travel world upside down, they were faced with the challenge of resetting and reclaiming this concept in order to fall in line with our new normal. “As a sustainable and socially responsible labor of love, we were forced to take inventory of the Bearadise® brand and determine how to evolve in a safe way during this time of ‘physical distancing’ and ‘safe socializing’ with the wellbeing of our guests as the #1 priority,” Serrano muses. Our solution? Bearadise® Beach! A full day, all-inclusive tour open air-experience designed for Bears, by Bears, but all men are welcome!”

See more details of this safe, open air unique bear and leather event coming to Puerto Vallarta here.
