Fall in Love With Gay Key West

Author: , November 26th, 2014

Key West - Apple MapsKey West truly is the perfect getaway for your wedding, honeymoon and romance. While it still is the place to go for clothing optional, all night, all-male fun and frolicking, the island has more than a few hidden gems that make it the perfect one stop destination for your upcoming nuptials, honeymoon, or just a romantic getaway. If money isn’t a concern, then have the entire ceremony and honeymoon at either The Westin Key West Resort and Marina or Casa Marina- A Waldorf Astoria Resort. Both boast fully appointed rooms and suites with balconies and a long list of amenities.

The restaurants at both locations have some of the most delectable offerings using the freshest ingredients and are prepared to perfection. The only thing better than the food will be looking into the eyes of the person you’re going to spend the rest of your life while you both enjoy some of the best food you’ve ever tasted.

If you’re at the Westin’s Sun-Sun, the crab cakes are a must. So are the lobster sliders. If you think you’ve had crab cakes before, you’re dead wrong. These will melt in your mouth. Chock full of delicate fresh crab held together with just the right amount of breadcrumbs. Fantastic.

Gay Istanbul: Turkey’s Most Scintillating City

Author: , November 26th, 2014

Istanbul, TurkeyPushed and pulled by the eastern and western worlds for centuries, absorbing influences and attitudes from both Europe and the Middle East, Turkey is astoundingly resilient.

And Istanbul, with 14 million people, has been the cosmopolitan centre of the region since it was founded as Constantinople in 330 AD. The Bosphorus Strait, a shipping lane that links the Black Sea and the Marmara Sea dividing Istanbul in two, is one of the boundaries between Europe and Asia.

And although a forward-thinking region culturally, homosexuality is still relatively a taboo subject in Turkey – despite same-sex sex being legalised in 1858 (there are no anti-discrimination laws on the books of any kind). The bigger hotel chains may not blink twice if a same-sex couple asks for one bed, but the same cannot be said for the smaller places, so discretion on this, and public displays of affection, are advised.

Gay Las Vegas – Show and Tell

Author: , November 26th, 2014

Las Vegas - Jerry NunnLas Vegas, Nevada, is one of the top tourist destinations in the world and with good reason. Entertainment, dining and relaxation are all within walking distance of upscale luxury properties. First off, pack those bags and fly Southwest Airlines, which has proven itself to be a low-cost carrier.

The are many options for a places to rest but Delano Las Vegas is one of the newest MGM resorts with a VIP check in and is connected to Mandalay Bay offering all of the perks. The rooms are spacious even containing a separate guest bathroom inside this all suite property. Guests can partake in the spa BATHHOUSE right downstairs, complete with honey-and-milk treatments.

Having only opened this year, Delano will soon have a private watering area; however, in the meantime, use that relaxing wave pool located on the beach of the Mandalay Bay. An outdoor bar provides margaritas among other cocktails so save the souvenir cup for a discount on return trips.

Exploring Gay Havana

Author: , November 26th, 2014

Cuba - CarIn old Havana there is a tree that’s said to be older than the city itself. It was here, though it was very young, when the Taino people would worship, venerate, and respect her as Ancient Mother. It was here too, though a little older now, in 1519 when the Spanish first established a settlement. The land was claimed, right beside her growing roots, as San Cristobal de la Habana. She provided shade for the first mass and bestowed a breeze for the first council meeting. And as she reached toward the heavens, so did a city. Becoming resilient and strong, prosperous and wealthy, devout and ideological–she soon had a home overlooking churches and plazas, statues and mansions that rivaled those of Europe.

She felt the breeze of independence and briefly felt it taken away from her. As times changed, though, she witnessed the plight of the Cuban people under a dictatorship and felt the mumblings of revolution brush through her leaves. Then, in 1959, as winter drew to an end she was here still to feel the rumbling of a tank shake her roots to usher in spring and a new hope for her land. More than half a century later, the wind again sways her branches and one of her leaves falls in 2014, twirling like a Sky Dancer, landing flatly on my head.

I am about to visit Havana, Cuba for a whirlwind three-day trip, and I decide before boarding a charter flight from Miami to Jose Marti International Airport, to drop the veil on my parochial American upbringing, to observe and reflect on a country that has persevered through difficult times, and embrace (not criticize) its convictions. Of course, actually being in Havana, exploring, and meeting the people, I am forced to modify this original declaration. Havana lends itself to open-minded tourists who should be curious about the political system, who want to question the state of the city, and who will dig deeper into the country’s modern-day ethos while understanding its past.

Fort Lauderdale Gay Travel Events Winter 2011

The Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention and Visitors Bureau (GFLCVB) has announced its intention to better cater for the needs of trans travellers following a pioneering new study. The popular beachside destination commissioned the survey, completed by over 700 self-identified members of the American trans community, earlier this year.

Thought to be the first of its kind in the US, the study sought to identify the ‘travel motivations, needs and priorities of the [trans] market,’ and has thus inspired the GFLCVB’s ‘Transgender Travel Initiative.’

The organisation will be training its members, as well as local hospitality leaders and the wider community, on how to be more sensitive to trans tourists through roundtable discussions and meetings.
