Northern PrideOne of the region’s most popular music festivals is returning in July with an additional venue and an extended run. Billed as one of the country’s largest free LGBT festivals (that’s lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender), Newcastle Pride will run for three days from July 18.

It will also, for the first time, have two focal points. As well as the main stage on the Town Moor, there will also be a second stage outside the Centre for Life on Times Square.

Among those due to appear on the opening day are Scottish singer Rachelle Rhienne, who has worked with a range of songwriters and producers in London, Jamaica and the Netherlands, Canadian-born Stacey Jackson, whose hits include club favourite Pointing Fingers, and TV personality Sonia Strong, who is soon to release her debut album, Sonogram.
