Violence Mars Gay Pride in Montenegro

The police in Podgorica used tear gas against opponents of the city’s first ever gay pride parade.

According to the Associated Press, dozens of attackers tried to push through the hundreds of police who were protecting participants in Sunday’s (20 October) march.

In Serbia reports that approximately 100 LGBT activists, ambassadors, and celebrities participated in the Montenegro’s capital parade. While no one was harmed, parade participants were escorted by the police from the city’s center.
