Author: , November 30th, 2012

San Francisco: Folsom Street Fair Announces Dates for 2013, 2014 and 2015Organizers of San Francisco’s Folsom Street Fair have announced the dates for the next three installments of the annual fetish event.

The outdoor festival held in the South of Market neighborhood is returning to the last weekend of September in both 2013, the fair’s 30th anniversary year, and in 2015. It will be one weekend early in 2014.

This year’s fair was also moved up a week due to a scheduling conflict with Oracle OpenWorld. Because hotel rooms in the city are scarce during the tech confab, Folsom Street Events decided to change the date for the 2012 fair.

Visiting Gay Frankfurt

Author: , November 30th, 2012

Gay Travel: Visiting FrankfurtIf you’re like me, you’ve flown through Frankfurt about a million times. I always wondered: is there actually a city beyond the airport, or is this place called Frankfurt really no more than a hub for planes heading across Europe? Well, the answer is, of course there’s a city, and a sophisticated and pleasant one at that.

With an enviable collection of museums arrayed along the banks of the river Main and scattered across the city, several Michelin-starred restaurants, a decent gay nightlife, some of Germany’s most impressive architecture, and a friendly and welcoming air, Frankfurt is a city that really merits a visit beyond the confines of its flight gates.

Frankfurt’s collection of skyscrapers give it the look of a major metropolis (and causes locals to boast of it as “Main-hattan,” though that’s a bit of a stretch). Yet, it has only 690,000 people.

Ten Travel Secrets

Author: , November 30th, 2012

As a child, all I ever dreamed about was living in a chocolate house – like a gingerbread house, only yummier and minus the witch. Now that I’m all grown up, the Hotel Chocolat in St. Lucia is waiting for me to visit (I can dream!). While it sounds amazing, I’ve been blessed with some pretty delish travel experiences in my life – and a few awkward ones too.

As we wrap up another amazing year at GoGirlfriend, we’re looking ahead (to that chocolate hotel) but we’re also reflecting on our fantastic past. In the spirit of pondering the past, we’ve decided to dedicate December to sharing travel experiences that we may not know about each other. Ever slept in a prison hotel? Camped out in an igloo? I want to hear what you’ve done – and where you’ve done it.

And because I’d never ask anything of you, dear reader, that I wouldn’t share myself, I’m going first. Get ready for the great unveiling of 10 things you may not know about me…if you know them already, enjoy the read anyway.
