Our dear friend, Bella (Dolly Goolsby) is on the go again, this time in Switzerland. She has graciously allowed us to republish her travel blogs. Enjoy!
The Matterhorn is so striking, just right there in front of us. We were going to go to Klein Matterhorn, where Kiri, Patrick and I had gone last year, but the girl at the front desk of the hotel told us it was -2 C. up there, possible snow. She recommended another trip, so we got onto a cog wheel train and made our way up to Gornergrat. Zermatt is about 5,000 feet elevation (1620 meters), and Gornegrat is 3089 meters, or approximately 10,000 feet elevation. The view from up there was awesome. My ears were popping as we slowly made our way up to the top.
There are about a thousand hiking and bicycle trails between that place and Zermatt. Some people put their bikes on the train on the way up, then rode down. Others rode up and down, and that cannot be easy! But seems like everyone has an opportunity to do what they want, including hang gliding.
