Coming Home to Florence

Ah, yes! The roar of the scooters, the same gypsies begging in Piazza Annunziata .. Now I now I have returned to my home away from home.
It is very nice not being a tourist. Now we can relax, and not have to rush around seeing all the sights. Today we went to San Ambrogio Mercato. After buying our fresh produce, olives and cheese, we went to Rocco Trattoria that is within the market. I love this place!
As soon as you sit down, they plunk a liter and a half bottle of wine in front of you…red or white. They open a new bottle for each customer, and judge how much to charge for it at the end, by looking at how much is gone out of the bottle…very casual. Then, although no restaurant will,give you a “doggie bag” for food, if you want to take the remainder of the bottle of wine, they cork it up, put it into a plastic bag, and off you go.
