Our Featured Articles This Month:

by Don and Ray, Gay Travelers

When in the Midwest, there are actually quite a few good options on where to visit and Omaha, Nebraska ranks right up there. We have been going to Omaha for more than 30 years on business and pleasure and it really does just keep getting better and better. The city has a very lively downtown, which sad to say, most cities do not have anymore. With a metro area of close to a million population there is so much to see and do in the city ranging from shopping, theatre, sports, museums and art galleries to fine dining and of course night life!

TRAVELING IN OUR FABULOUS GAY WORLD: Tom of Finland Exhibit in Miami BeachTRAVELING IN OUR FABULOUS GAY WORLD: Tom of Finland Exhibit in Miami Beach
by Don and Ray, Gay Travelers

Tom of Finland, born Touko Laaksonen in Kaarina, Finland, who came to be known throughout the international art world for his extraordinary homoerotic drawings depicting men at ease and equally at play, will be the subject of a major exhibit, TOM OF FINLAND: Male Masterworks, opening Saturday, April 14, at 8 P.M. through July 31st at Naomi Wilzig’s World Erotic Art Museum.

The Travel Gem: Staying at a B&BThe Travel Gem: Staying at a B&B
by Peggy and Dave Furlan, The Livingston Inn, Madison, Wisconsin

“My wife and I love staying at a bed & breakfast.” Substitute “husband”, “partner”, or “significant other”, and I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve heard this statement since we opened our B&B. I’m also surprised by the variety of people who tell me this. It’s not just retired couples who travel the country. Nor is it young couples seeking a romantic getaway. It’s couples with children, young or grown, or with no children at all. It’s professionals, like educators and physicians, but also people in skilled trades, like carpenters and plumbers, as well as firefighters and police officers.

Historic Nevada City, CaliforniaHistoric Nevada City, California
by Erin Thiem, The Outside Inn, Nevada City, Californi

DLooking for a Northern California weekend getaway, try visiting Nevada City. The town was once a thriving gold rush town, but now maintains its quaint small town charm.

Points of historical interest include Bridgeport Covered Bridge, the longest single span wood arch bridge, built in 1862. Or visit Empire Mine in nearby Grass Valley, the oldest, largest richest gold mine in California.

Salida, Colorado – The Heart of the RockiesSalida, Colorado – The Heart of the Rockies
by Gina & D’Arcy Marcell, Mountain Goat Inn, Salida, Colorado

Known as the Heart of the Rockies, Salida is a major recreational center located just east of the Continental Divide along the Arkansas River. Salida sits at an elevation of 7083 feet and has a population of over 5,500. Salida has grown from a railroad and mining town into a respected art community and significant historical district. Today the most prominent business in Salida is tourism and can satisfy almost any outdoor adventure preference. Salida is home to the annual FIBArk kayak race, one of the oldest whitewater races in North America. Salida’s downtown historic district has enjoyed a rebirth of development over the past few years.

Beziers, France: Home to Languedoc’s ‘Feria’Beziers, France: Home to Languedoc’s ‘Feria’
by Mark Binmore, Maison De L’Orb, Beziers, Languedoc, France

Throughout Languedoc, Beziers is known for two things in particular: wine and bullfighting. Undoubtedly the best time to visit this town, which sits atop a rocky spur overlooking the great plain of the Herault departement, is during the four-day long feria when you can combine both. Beziers is also perfectly situated for excursions into the Haut Languedoc, a rugged and untamed mountainous region of picturesque stone villages and cascading mountain streams. Time here is rarely wasted and an amble through the old town, bordered on three sides by the Orb river and a canal, is extremely agreeable.
